Dear Sewers, It is that time of year again where Winter is almost over and those longer and warmer Spring Days are just around the corner! So get ready for a great quarter of fun sewing classes, events and a Staff of Sewing Enthusiasts that make everything sewing EXCITING and FUN! We have a great selection of technique and machine training classes complemented by a great selection of Clubs that will have you making more time to join in on all the fun and sew! Take the opportunity to inspect this Newsletter for all the new and fun creative classes sure to have you stitching away! We have New Fabric arriving on a weekly and monthly basis, over 250 New Notions on the floor so make sure you check it out and the many, many new and exciting announcements coming during this beautiful season of Spring! HEIRLOOM BASICS 1Jeanna HannaThis beginner class is designed to introduce students to some of the basic techniques of Heirloom sewing. These techniques will be used to create a “Techniques Workbook.” We will not be sewing a garment at this time but simply learning basic heirloom techniques. Prerequisites for this class are a basic knowledge of sewing and being familiar with operating a sewing machine. Kits will be included in the class fee and all kits come with Workbook, fabric, laces, and entredeux. Students may build on their skills by taking Heirloom Basics 2 (Fancy Yokes and Sleeves) and Heirloom Basics 3 (Fancy Skirts)Class fee: $70 (includes kit)May 2nd and 9th • 6-8pm

INTRODUCTION TO FINE HAND EMBROIDERY-Jeanna Hanna This class will introduce students to some of the basic stitches used in fine hand embroidery. These beginner stitches can be used to embel-lish clothing, linens, pillows, or anything that needs a personal, handmade touch. Some of the stitches covered in this class are; stem/outline stitch, feather stitch, bullion roses, French knots, waste knot, and a lazy daisy. Class Fee: $50.00 (includes kit) March 12th and 19th • 6-8pm

INTERMEDIATE SMOCKING -Jeanna Hanna This class will allow students to add to their smocking skills by learning two intermediate stitches; the Honeycomb Stitch and Ribbon Weaving Wave Stitch. Adding these two patterns to your basic geometric stitches, will open up a whole new world of design possibilities.Class Fee: $50.00 (includes kit) March 14th and 21st 6-8pm

BEGINNERS SEWING-Julie ZacharyWould you love to sew but don’t know where to start? Acquaint yourself with your sewing machine, learn how to take measurements, layout and cut your pattern and read sewing directions. By the end of the sessions you will have completed a simple pillowcase and pajama bottoms created by you – just for you! This class is open and welcome to any model or make sewing machine and if you don’t own a sewing machine but would love to know if you enjoy the creative art of sewing, we will provide a BERNINA sewing machine for you to sew on @ no additional cost.Class Fee: $85March 11th, 18th, 25th, and April 1st 10am-1pmApril 15th, 16th 22nd and 23rd 10am-1pm April 29th, May 6th, 13th and 20th 10am-1pm
INTERMEDIATE SEWING-Julie ZacharyReady for the next step with your sewing skills? This class is the perfect class for you to go from the basics to an intermediate level and knowledge base. In this class you will learn how to install zippers, sleeves, collars, and button holes. SEW SO SILLYCookie Bahr and Dana Wegner Sew So Silly is an “adults only” fashion sewing club for the seasoned sewist. The group will meet the first Friday of each month. Each project is up to the individual and may include stitching with commercial pattern (e.g. My Label) as well as hand sewing . Sewing can be done by regular machine or serger(ooh—-ahh). There will be a wealth of knowledge to be shared, as well a varying opinions. CLASS POLICIES Registration and Payment:We accept class sign-ups as soon as the newsletter is printed and placed on the website. Payment in full is required at the time of registration. You may register and pay: 1. In person in the store.2. By mail with a check (please include a note with
the details of the class or use registration form).3. By phone with a credit card.Cancellation:1. We reserve the right to cancel a class due to
insufficient enrollment. Every attempt will be made to give you 7 days notice if we must cancel a class. You may receive your refund by choosing one of the following methods:
a. A full cash refund. b. Transfer the class fee to another class during the same quarter.2. No refunds will be given after the class begins.
No Show - No Refund. 3. If a class fills extremely fast, we sometimes offer a
waiting list. Please ask if you are interested.
SUPPLY LISTS:1. Supply lists are given at time of paid registration.
The cost of supplies are not included in the class fee unless so noted.
2. Please purchase your supplies before class. Supplies should be purchased at the store. We offer a discount of 10% for class supplies.
3. Please do not wait until the last minute to buy your supplies. As you know, picking out fabric takes time and we would hate for you to miss the beginning of your class. Instructors will not wait for you to begin the class.
4. Typically a minimum of 4 students is required to hold a class.
5. You may want to check with us before you buy your supplies to be sure a class is a go.
OTHER
Important InformationINFORMATION:1. If a class is full you may have
your name placed on a waiting list in case a student cancels.
2. No make ups on sewing classes. If you miss a class or need additional help you can make arrangements with the class instructor at her professional fee.
3. Please be considerate of others. Do not bring children to class, wear heavy perfume or use cell phones during class. Please be on time for class or better yet, come 15 minutes early to set up your sewing space. Classes begin promptly at the scheduled time. If you are unable to make the class session, please call so we will know not to expect you.
4. We do have class maximums. These may vary with the class being offered. Register early to avoid having to be placed on a waiting list.
5. The use of cell phones is disruptive to other paying students and instructors. Please wait until class breaks or step outside for calls.
6. Please mark your calendar with your classes. We do not make reminder calls. We will call if a class is cancelled or changed.

Class is held the 4th Saturday of each month and starts promptly at 9am. This is a 30-minute lecture class with a Power Point presentation. Start with simple blocks and work towards more advanced techniques. This is a great class for those who want to expand their quilting knowledge. Yes, you can make 12 blocks for $5.00 (providing you follow the rules). Please call to register.

VIVA ITALIA’ QUILTViva Italia is a year long quilt, Block of the Month project designed for quilters to learn different techniques in piecing blocks. These blocks are inspired by Italian Mo-saic Marble Floors of the great churches and palaces found in Italy. Each month will be a different block in a different combination.
