• We are a small / medium-sized company right in the middle of Switzerland.• The origin of our company lies in the construction of plants and boilers, we are active in this

sector since 1985.• Because of the market situation in the sector of boiler construction in Europe has changed over

the years, we decided in 1998 to shift our core competencies into the sector of combustion engineering and process engineering.

• Since then, we have adapted our combustion technology to the latest requirements and it has been continually developed.

Suitable fuels for the water-cooled combustion grate are:• All kinds of biomass• Household / Municipal waste (MSW)• Refuse Derived Fuels (RDF), Solid Recovered Fuels (SRF)• Chemical, industrial and hazardous waste• Generally, fuels with a high calorific value ( 7 – 30 MJ/kg / 1’672 – 7’165 kcal/kg)

Features• The combustion grate can be built horizontally or inclined.• Water-cooling of the movable and the fixed grate plates with a closed cooling circuit.• The water-cooled grate can be operated with a high thermal load up to 1.3 MW/m2.• The recovered thermal energy from the cooling circuit can be used for:

– Pre-heating of the combustion air.– Pre-heating of liquids such as turbine condensate and feedwater.

• Massive reduction of the thermal and mechanical stress of the grate plates due to the water-cooling circuit.

• Prevention of material sintering on the combustion grate.• The material expansion of the grate plates is absorbed by the lateral expansion box.• No expansion of the construction and the prevention of cracks on the grate surface.• Minimal material fall-trough and non-ferrous metal accumulation underneath the combustion grate.

Features• Self-cleaning air outlet openings on the grate plates.• The air outlet openings can be adjusted according to the fuel.• Low operating costs due to high durability of up to 24’000 hours of operation as a guaranteed

value.• The grate plates are casted of CrNiSi 27.4 (1.4823).• In case of a failure of one single cooling line, the combustion grate can still continue to operate.• The grate support and drive system are outside of the combustion grate (no pollution of the

movable parts).• High level of automatization, therefore:

– Controlled combustion management with homogenous burnout.– Optimal possibility to position the fire in the longitudinal direction.– Optimal control of the temperature in the combustion chamber.– Massive reduction of the formation of clinker.

• Optimum fuel / air ratio (excess air ratio of 1.45), therefore:– Reduced flue gas flow.– Low operating costs for SNCR stage.– Low operating costs for electrical power and auxiliary systems.

• With the water-cooled combustion grate it will be reached an overall improvement in the efficiency of the entire system.

Suitable fuels for the air-cooled combustion grate are:• Biomass• Waste with low calorific value • Generally, fuels with a low calorific value ( 6 – 14 MJ/kg / 1’433 – 3’344 kcal/kg)

Features• The combustion grate can be build horizontally or inclined.• Controlled fire management with an equal gas burnout.• Optimal possibility to position the fire in the longitudinal direction.• To prevent that the individual grate bars can lift, they are bolted onto the grate together in bundles.

The weight of these bundles prevents them from lifting.• The material expansion of the grate bars is absorbed through the lateral expansion box.• By bolting the grate bars to bundles, in combination with the expansion box, it prevents the

formation of gaps between the grate bars. This results in a minimal material fall-trough and a minimal ash and non-ferrous metal deposit below the grate.

• Self-cleaning air outlet openings on the grate bars.• Low operating costs due to high durability max. 12’000 hours of operation as a guaranteed value.• The investment cost of the air-cooled grate is significantly lower than for a water-cooled version.

Individual air control:• Primary air• Secondary air• Fluegas recirculation system

Features• Fully automatic controlled combustion air system.• 6 primary air zones.• Primary air zones 1 – 3 mixed with recirculated fluegases.• Secondary air on 2 levels in the front- and rear wall.• Possibility to mix the secondary air with recirculated fluegases.• Recirculated fluegases in the area of the input of fuel to prevent back fire.• O2 control for the air zones 1 – 3.• Therefore optimal control of the combustion process and the temperatures in the combustion

chamber.• Pre- heating of the primary air by a heat exchanger with the hot water from the grate water cooling

circuit.• If necessary, additional pre- heating of the primary air by a heat exchanger with steam.• With the hot primary air we achieve a better drying and ignition process in the first grate zones.

The combustion system is the heart of every incineration plant. The subsequent processes such as the water-steam cycle and fluegas cleaning system are strongly influenced by the combustion process. It is therefore very important that the combustion process is stable and continuous. With our automatic combustion control system we achieve a stable and constant combustion process even if the fuel composition is challenging. All process relevant parameters are adjusted automatically according to the leading parameter, which is the steam flow. The temperature in the combustion chamber is constantly monitored at every air zone. There are separate setpoint temperature for every air zone. According to the comparison between the setpointand the actual measured temperature the parameters of the combustion air (Flow amount, oxygen content) are adjusted automatically.Automatic control of the combustion process parameters:• Temperature in the combustion chamber.• Air distribution of the combustion air for each air zone. Control of flow, pressure and oxygen

content for: – Primary air zones 1 – 6, – Secondary air (2 levels at the front wall, 2 levels at the rear wall)

• Recirculated fluegas FGR.• Speed and stroke length of the pushers at input of fuel.• Speed and stroke length of the combustion grate modules (3 – 4 modules, each individually

controlled).• Firing load control according to process needs.• Flue gas oxygen control.• Calorific heating value control.• Temperature control in the input of fuel and the fuel feeding system for fire extinguishing system.• Cooling water system control. (control of the flow, pressure and temperature of the cooling water).

Features• The burned waste materials, that enter the slag chute (ash, slag and non-combustible materials),

get extinguished using a water-filled ash discharger and gets continuously ejected.• Remaining humidity content after the discharge < 15 %.• Our model of the ash discharger is insensitive to larger contaminants (shock absorbers, oil drums,

metal parts with a length up to 800 mm).• The bottom ash discharger is lined with wear-resistant steel (Hardox 450). • The hydraulically driven discharge piston is moved by two hydraulic cylinders, with a pressure

force of 150 kN each.• The risk of blocking of the ash discharger is virtually excluded.• If necessary, a separation of ash / slag and metal can be installed after the ash discharger.
