SGA SUMMER FUN

Members of SGA attended a Women's

Leadership Panel hosted by Congressman

Carlos Curbelo. From such an event, our

SGA officials learned how to be effective

leaders in the community and were able to

network with prominent individuals, such as

State Senator Anitere Flores.

On July 6th, was the official local FIU in DC

Proclamation at the Board of

County Commissioners meeting. FIU in DC

has been a great accomplishment for our

university. A few of our SGA officials were in

attendance along with President Rosenberg

as proud panthers!

We've been tabling all summer long at events

such as Homecoming's Rally 100 and

orientations to inform our current and

incoming students about what SGA can do for

Not only has SGA been active this summer in

the FIU community, but also in the community

as a whole. In June, SGA partnered with

Farm Share, several locally elected officials,

and the Florida Department of Children and

Families to package and distribute food to

families in need.

SGA WEEK IS HERE!This year, Student Government Association is

hosting an SGA week. As an avenue of advocacyfor the students at FIU, we want to build a strong

relationship with as many students as possible andmake you all more aware of the inner workings of

SGA. Therefore, we hope to see you all at ourevents during SGA week!

What is It's On Us?

It's On Us is a nationwide initiative that wasintroduced to college campuses in 2014 to end

to give you all a warmwelcome on behalf of allSGA into the Fall 2016

semester here at FIU. Wehope that you all enjoyed

your summer and thatyou’re ready for a

semester full of activity.Over this past summer

the entire SGA team hasbeen working tirelessly toplan out a successful year

in which you, ourconstituents, are the

primary focus of our work.Please know that myself,Michelle and the entire

SGA team are honored tobe able to represent youall during this academic

year. Whenever there’s anissue, concern, or

anything that you’d like toaddress, please know thatyou’re always welcome atour office in GC211 and atall of our public meetings.We are here to serve you!

sexual assault. Sexual assault should not be a partof the college experience and as such, we all canplay a part in ending sexual assault. As PresidentObama stated, "to work so hard to make it throughthe college gates only to be assaulted is an affront

to our basic humanity."

What Can We Do?

SGA takes part in the 6 week institution-wideprograms and services to educate our students anduniversity community on responsible conduct, themeaning of consent, how to properly report casesof sexual misconduct, and how to hold individualsaccountable for their behavior. The FIU It's On Uscampaign initiative is about action, education, andthe continuum of care for our students, faculty, andstaff. Come out to the events, learn the facts, and

take the pledge to end sexual assault on ourcampus!
