Tech. & MBA students on 2 nd April, 2012. Genpact is a global leader in business process and technology management. The entire organization has over 53,000+ employees is focused on process and engaged in improving cli- ent processes and driving business impact. More than 200 candidates from several Institutes/Colleges from Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Himachal and Chandigarh registered for interviews on both days. grammes and other related events are organized regularly. Students of

New Delhi Institute of Management, Tuglkabad Institutional Area, New Delhi, organized its Annual

Inter-College Fest, - „SPANDAN‟, during the first week of April, 2012. Two students of SGI partici-

pated in the event of „Business Quiz‟ on 2nd April, 2012. In all, there were forty teams of two students

each in the competition. Aditya Bali of MBA final Semester and Mohit Sakhuja of PGDM final Semes-

ter represented Samalkha Group of Institutions. The team performed extremely well in all the elimina-

tion rounds and finally made to the final of „Business Quiz‟. After overcoming a tough competition,

team of SGI won the first position. SGI team was honoured with certificates of securing the first position and Mementos by

NDIM. Winning such a tough competition speaks about the caliber of SGI students.

Pre –Joining Assessment Training for “Quatrro Global Services at SGI”

Quatrro Global Services Pvt. Ltd., had selected Samalkha Group of Institutions to conduct Pre –Joining

Assessment Training for the selected candidates in various placement drives conducted by the com-

pany.

The Training was consisted of complete hands-on experience of the Computer Hardware, Operating

systems and Networking. The training was followed by assessment of the candidates for immediate

joining on various PAN India locations of the company.

The 32 hours (Five days) complete training was well organized and Prepared by the Corporate Relation

cell of SGI in Delhi, headed by Mr. Muneesh Marwaha and smartly delivered by the team of IT experts

of SGI Mr. Fuzail Shams, Mr. Neeraj Bawa, Ms. Preetika Bhasin and Ms. Sunita Gahalyan at SGI cam-

pus. The five days training was ended on 1st April, 2012.

20 selected candidates from Delhi, Faridabad, Karnal and Panipat had participated in the training and

assessment. The candidates were provided with proper hospitality and accommodation free of cost.

After completion of the training the candidates were finally assessed by the “Quatrro” HR department.

The candidates were very much happy and satisfied with practical exposure gained during the training,

the delivery techniques of training was very much appreciated by the company “Quatrro Global Ser-

vices Pvt. Ltd.”.

Samalkha Group of Institutions organized an event at

campus on 5th April, 2012. The event focused on

“National Integration & Social Harmony". Dr. G.K.

Tuteja, Assistant Program Advisor, NSS Regional cen-

tre, New Delhi was the Chief Guest and Dr. (Mrs.)

Charanjeet Kaur State Liaison Officer, NSS Haryana

was the Guest of Honour. It was a proud privilege of

SGI to call both the eminent personalities as a guest in campus in such type of knowledge delivery event.

Firstly Ms. Anupam Mann (FOE) and Prerna, student of CSE gave a brief about the Theme and Guests.

Dr. Rajesh Goel, Director SGI then gave an excellent presentation on the theme as well as National Ser-

vice Scheme (NSS). He also highlighted the steps taken by SGI to discharge its Social responsibility. Dr.

(Mrs.) Charanjeet Kaur was then invited for giving a brief about NSS and its relevence. Dr. G.K. Tuteja,

Assistant Program Advisor, NSS Regional centre, Delhi then addressed the gathering highlighting the im-

portance of Social harmony and role of NSS in inspiring the youths of India in serving the every segment

of Society. He also inspired young minds to be a „Proud Indian‟. He also assured that he will try his best

to give approval for creating One unit of NSS at SGI shortly. Dr. Tuteja appreciated the initiatives taken

by SGI to honour their Social Commitments towards the Society using talent of Students. It was followed

by excellent presentations from faculty and students. Ms. Preetika (ERDC), Ms. Preeti Dhingra (FOM)

and Mr. Navneet (FOE) gave their views on the topic “Role of Youth in National Integration & Social

Harmony”, “Religion Identity & National Integration in India” and “Achieving Communal Harmony” re-

spectively.

Students of SGI Nivedita (MBA), Amit (ME), Avinash (ECE), Salman (ME), Lalit (ECE) and Amar (ME)

gave their views about the theme. Salman (ME) presented an excellent talk on „Mazhab Nai Sikhata Aa-

pas Mai Bair Rakhna‟ followed by a group song by a group of students consisting of Deepti, Manish,

Shubham, Anita, Ankhush, Ashish, Ankita, Yamini and Priyanka.

In addition to Director, Prof. H.L. Chhatwal Dean & Associate Director, HODs and all the faculty mem-

bers of Faculty of Engineering & Faculty of Management were present in the event. The event was coor-

dinated by Mr. Gaurav Bhatia (FOE) and Ms. Anupam Mann (FOE).

Finance) candidates on 10th April, 2012.

Organizing events which contribute to better future prospective of students has been key policy of

SGI and accordingly many such programmes and other related events are organized regularly. Stu-

pus with Sudhir (EEE-1st Year), Amit (ME-1st Year) and Vikas (ME 2nd year) student coordinators

for the placement drive to help out the students and company.

Students of SGI Won 3rd Prize in UNIVERSUMM 2012 at Mullana

University

Students of SGI participated in a three day National Level Fest-“ UNIVERSUMM 2012” organ-

ized by Mullana University, Mullana. Ambala at University campus on 10th - 12th April 2012.

Two teams of SGI had participated in sports competition in Volley-Ball and Badminton under the

guidance of faculty members Mr. Hemant Chugh and Mr. Anil Sharma. The volley-ball team con-

sisted of students Manish Sambyal(MBA First Year), Gaurav Tyagi(ECE Third Year), Ujjwal

Chaubey(ME Third Year), Mohit Chauhan(ME Third Year), Neeraj Kumar(ME Third Year), Sid-

harth(ME Second Year), Vivek(EEE Second Year) and Balwant(BBA First Year) and the Badmin-

ton Team Consisting of Ankur Jain(CSE Third Year), Anup Hota(ME Third Year), Ankit Chillar

(ME Second Year) and Dheeraj(ME Second Year).

There were several teams of different colleges and Universities including PTU, Kurukshetra Univer-

sity and various affiliated colleges of these Universities. Both the teams of SGI performed well and

reached to semifinals in the respective competitions. However the volley-ball team stood third posi-

The Director of SGI had congratulated the students and faculty for the achievement and motivated

them for much better performance in the future.He said that the institute will provide full support

and facilities for the preparation of such activities and invite students to come forward and perform

in such competitions.

A visit to Modern Machine Shop-2012

With growing demand of latest technologies and modern

equipments in the day-to-day life, INDIAN MACHINE TOOL

MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION, (IMTMA) comes for-

ward and organized an exhibition gives an opportunity for the

Industrialist and engineering students.

Keeping in mind the development and enhancement of stu-

dents, Mr. Kapil Chopra (HOD, Mechanical Engineering De-

partment, SGI,Samalkha) coordinated and organized a visit for

B.TECH 4th and 6th semester mechanical engineering students

on 7th April, 2012. The transportation was provided by the col-

lege itself. The venue for the exhibition was INDIA EXPO

MART, GRATER NOIDA. Around 40 students from 2nd and 3rd year came forward and take the ad-

vantage of this great opportunity. Mr. Anil Sharma, Mr. Ashish Dawar, Mr. Mukesh, Mr. Rajesh

were the faculty coordinators from Mechanical Engineering Department. The student includes Mo-

hammed Abdullah, Yashwant Saini, Aditya Nath Jha , Mohammed Shahid, Samarth Sikka, Dheeraj

Kumar, Abishek Khanna, Sachin Taneja, Satish Kumar, Ravinder, Simranjeet, Arvind, Manpreet,

Gaurav, Praveen, Anil and Sandeep.

Samalkha Group of Institutions is committed to provide best and quality professionals to the global

market. Therefore, besides academics SGI has taken a step to improve the personality of its students.

Students of Electronics and Communication Engineering department visited SIMULATRIX-12, a

seminar on Electronics CADD. The seminar was organized by Cadd Centre at FIRE‟N‟ICE, Sec. 10,

Third Party Audit for ISO 9001:2008 Quality system held successfully

at SGI

SGI is an ISO 9001:2008 certified institution since its inspection. Its third party audit held at SGI

campus on 5th April 2012. On this occasion Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Goel congratulated all the faculty

members in Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Management, Teaching Support Staff, Technical and

Library Staff for supporting and following all standards made by ISO 9001:2008.

Auditors Committee made an enormous and positive contribution to most aspects of our lives. Audi-

tors Committee checked desirable characteristics of products and services such as quality, environ-

mental friendliness, safety, reliability, efficiency and interchangeability - and at an economical cost

at SGI.

After the Audit all services meet to their expectations and committee tend to take this for granted.

The committee told if products, systems, machinery and devices work well and safely then it is often

because they meet standards.

The committee suggested about three main phases of an ISO standards development process. First is

the need for a standard is usually expressed by an industry sector, which communicates this need to

a national member body. Second is to make an agreement which has been reached on technical as-

pects are to be covered in the standard. The final phase comprises the formal approval of the

Result. ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world's largest developer and

publisher of International Standards. ISO is a network of the national standards institutes of 163

countries, one member per country, with a Central Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, that coordi-

nates the system. ISO is a non-governmental organization that forms a bridge between the public

and private sectors. On the one hand, many of its member institutes are part of the governmental

structure of their countries, or are mandated by their government. On the other hand, other members

have their roots uniquely in the private sector, having been set up by national partnerships of indus-

try associations. Therefore, ISO enables a consensus to be reached on solutions that meet both the

requirements of business and the broader needs of society.

Technovision 2012 Celebrated in SGI

Samalkha Group of Institutions celebrated Technovision 2012

on 12th -13th April with great enthusiasm. The convenor was

the Director of the institution Prof. (Dr) Rajesh Goel and the

co-convenor is Prof. H.L. Chhatwal Dean & Associated Di-

rector of SGI. The event was organized by Mr. Ashwani

Dhiman (Research Engineer & Head ERDC ), Ms. Priyanka

Sharma (Research Associate ERDC), Ms. Preetika Bhasin

(Research Associate ERDC) and Students Members of

ERDC . There were 38 events including two workshops on Ethical Hacking and Robotics. All the

events were organized by students and faculty members of the institution. Students from Vari-

ous colleges & Schools of the region were invited to participate in the various categories of events.

Professor Jagmohan Singh Rajput (Nephew of Shahid Bhagat Singh & well known educationist)

was present as chief guest of the closing ceremony on 13th April 2012, along with Mr. Ram Mohan

Rai (Gen. Sec. Hali Panipat Trust), Father Pankaj IMS, Manager St. Marry‟s Convent School, Pani-

pat were the special invitees on the occasion. Chairman Sh. Ajay Goyal and other Senior members of

SGI Management including Sh. Hari Om Goyal were also present on the occasion. A cultural programme was presented on the closing ceremony in which various students of SGI

showed their talent and entertained the audience. In this ceremony SGI management has honored 13

Sarpanches of various villages of Panipat District and several other important social workers of the

Panipat District. The Chief Guest of the event presented the prizes to the winners of various category

of events and also presented the academic achievement awards to various students of SGI.

Around 200 Students from various Institutes and schools including JK Polytechnic, Chandan Bal

Vikas School, Bal Vikas School and Modern School from Sonepat, Panipat and Samlkha regions vis-

ited the „Tech-fest‟ and showed keen interest in understanding the novel ideas in various areas of

Technology. The Technovision also included some competitive events like ROBO Puller, Robo Soc-

cer, Robo Race, Robo Rides, Electromoania, Bread Storming, Black Box, Degital Designing, Simu,

Automized mind, Reassemble, Krazy Bridge, Apsurd, Code Mag-

neto, Codex, Debug, Ideaz, battlefield etc. The Technovision also

included separate workshops for Ethical Hacking and Robitics. The

workshops was coordinated by Mr. Neeraj Bawa (System Adminis-

trator), Mr. Vishal Dora (TPO) and Ms. Sonia Sardana (Asstt. Pro-

fessor in Management). The Workshops were basically to create

awareness about the up-coming technological areas of Robotics &

Automation. Automation is one step beyond mechanization. Mechanization provides human opera-

tors with machinery to assist them with muscular requirement of work; automation decreases the

need for human sensory and mental requirements as well. Automation plays an increasingly impor-

tant role in the world economy and had a notable impact in a wide range of highly visible industries

beyond manufacturing. The Workshops were of two hours for both the days.

Basic Topics Covered in the Workshops: Types of Robots, Different Components of Robots, and

Future Aspects of Robotics and Some Ethical hacking Concepts Like How To Protect your Operat-

ing System from virus, How to install Programs without administrative rights etc.

The Workshops was really very interactive.

All HODs and Faculty Members effectively participated in this event. They guided the students

about their Projects and Presentations.

The Chief guest Prof. Jagmohan Singh Rajput had shared his views on “Higher Education” and

given expert advice to the students and faculty of SGI. He invited the students to follow the paths of

patriots like Bhagat Singh and be honest towards country. He gave the example of Lord Vishvkarma

and explained the philosphy of four different things in the four hands of Lord of Engineering &

Construction. He asked the students to live with the idealogy of truth and patriotism and not to fol-

low money. He said that Transformation is the key of revolution, e.g Guru Nanak make a transfor-

mation and in the fight of our freedom the episodes “Jalia Walan Bagh”, “Quit India Movement”

transformed the people of whole country into freedom fighters and as a result finaly we got the

“Freedom”.

Dr. Rajesh Goel in his concluding speech said that SGI is grooming its students to best fit in the

today‟s “changed” corporate culture and had adopted a different approach in student‟s career devel-

opment planning. The basic mantra for success adopted by SGI includes three steps: Academic & .

At SGI, special additional modules for the skill develop-

ment of a student have developed along with hard skills and

develop multifarious and industry fit professional for imme-

diate induction for professional deliverance. For this they

involve senior industry professionals in making their cur-

riculum for real world applications and invite experienced

corporate trainers and HR Practitioners to train and make their students aware of the practical imple-

mentation of the theoretical concepts. In the end Dr. Goel proposed a vote of thanks for Hon‟ble

Chief Guest, Chairman, Distinguished guests and everyone who participated and did their best in

making this event a great success. All the guests, faculty and students were entertained with sumptu-

ous lunch.

SGI Students participated in the Inter College Fest-Zephyr

Students of Samalkha Group of Institutions, Samalkha participated in the Inter – college Technical

Fest “ZEPHYR” organized by Hindu College of Engineering, Sonepat on 12th April, 2012. Vijay

Dagar Student of Samalkha Group of Institutions has been awarded 2nd Prize for Stand up Comedy

from the hands of HCE, Management. There were many colleges participated in the competition.

One Day Seminar on DigiClass by Pearson Education Services Pvt.

A one day seminar on DigiClass was held at Samalkha Group of Insti-

tutions. The seminar was organized by Pearson Education Services Pvt.

Ltd. Edurite. Faculty was provided knowledge about Online education

class. Guest of Honor Mr. Sandeep Kumar was invited for the Seminar

from Pearson Education Services Pvt. Ltd, Gurgaon.

Faculty gained very good experience by this seminar and felt motivated. The event coordinator for

the said event was Mr. Vikas Uttreja (HOD,ECE), Mr. Pankaj Kakkar(ECE), Mr. Parveen bhatt

(HOD ASH), Ms. Paramjeet(ASH), Ms. Manisha(CSE), Ms. Minakshi(ASH), Ms. Sonia Sardana

(MBA), Ms. Garima(CSE), Mr. Sandeep(ME), Mr. Ashish Dawar(ME), Mr. Shyam Singh(ASH),

Ms. Ritu Pahal(ECE), Mr. Rajesh(ME), Mr. VK Batra(PGDM) were also present on this event.

the research team and management of Global

Achievers foundation with Bharat Shiksha Ratan

Award for outstanding individual achievements

and distinguished services to the nation. The name

of the event in which they gave this award is a Na-

tional Seminar on “Individual Contribution for

Social & Economic Growth”.

The Global Achiever's Foundation will honor Indi-

viduals, Organizations and Institutions with Awards for outstanding contributions and achievements

in their respective fields. Awards will also be given in the fields of Health & Education, Commerce

& Industries, Hotel & Tourism, Co-operative, Public Social Services & other fields. The Awards will

be presented in special seminars which will be chaired by Central Minister / State Minister & Na-

tional Leaders. On this special occasion many dignities were on the dais like Shri Harish Rawat, Un-

ion Minister of State, Parliamentary affairs, H.E. Mr. Waven William, High Commissioner of Sey-

Students of SGI participated in Money Mantra show at NDTV

Students of Samalkha Group of Institutions participated in the well known

show “Money Mantra” recorded on NDTV on 19th of April, 2012 at Ar-

chana Complex, GK Part-1, New Delhi. The theme of the show was

“Delhi in 2025,will it be world class?”. The show was hosted by Mr. Me-

hraj Dube.

Director of Samalkha Group of Institutions Awarded with “Vigyan

Ratan” by All India Technical and Management Association(AITMA)

It is another big achievement of SGI that its Di-

rector Dr. Rajesh Goel was awarded “Vigyan

Ratan” Award by India Technical and Manage-

ment Association (AITMA) in its 1st corporate

Summit held at CII auditorium , Chandigarh on

26th April 2012. The award was given to him for

Dr. Goel has been a prominent researcher and educationist since 1996. He has an excellent academic

record during his Studies from School Level upto Doctorate. He has been awarded many apprecia-

tions during his studies. He was also awarded Gold Medal in M.Tech at NIT Kurukshetra(formally

REC , Kurukshetra) by Hon‟ble Governor of Haryana.

Eminent Guest speakers from all over India were present in the summit including Prof. Dr. Kuldeep

Singh Dhindsa, Renowned scientist, Sh. I.P Chander, IAS, Sports Authority of Haryana. Dr. D.D.S

Sandhu, Hon‟ble Vice Chancellor of Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, Dr. D.D. S Sandhu

Hon‟ble Vice Chancellor of Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra were also amongst the Awardees

for “Haryana Gaurav” Award.

A two day workshop on Industrial Automation and Embedded system &

Robotics was conducted by Sofcon India Pvt. Ltd, 20th - 21st April, 2012

at Samalkha Group Of Institutions, SGI. Sofcon is an ISO 9001-2008

Company Authorized Channel Partner of Rockwell Automation. They

provide practical training on different Industrial Automation Platforms to

Dip/BE/BTech Freshers , Engineering professional & Technicians. SOF-

CON is professionally run by technocrats having decades of experience

in Training / process / manufacturing industry.This was attended by both students and Faculty Mem-

bers. On 20th April, 2012 a workshop was conducted specially for ME, EE & EC Branch on Indus-

trial Automation. A practical knowledge was given to students & Faculty members on PLC,

SCADA , DCS, etc. with the help of movies & presentations. A brief introduction of AC , DC drives

& HMI was also given by them.

The workshop was organized by Embedded Research & Development Centre, Samalkha Group of

Institutions. Dr. Rajesh Goel, Director SGI motivated the students for learning new technologies by

their experiences. Mr. Ashwani Dhiman, Ms. Priyanka Sharma, Ms. Preetika Bhasin, Mr. Neeraj

Bawa, Mr. Vikas Kumar, Mr. Vishal Dora, Mr. Kapil Chopra faculty members of SGI were present

in the workshop.

Two Days Technical Workshop at SGI Organized by ERDC

Students of SGI Won Prizes in Competition for Fine Arts at Ganpati

Group of Institution, Bilaspur , Distt. Yamuna Nagar

“Utkarsh 2K12” National level Techfest was organized at GGI,

Bilaspur, Distt. Yamuna Nagar on 26th April 2012. There were

more than 20 Competitions which were based on Technical

theme. More than 100 students from various colleges participated

in this Competition. Inside the most conservative person, a hid-

den wild child wants to come out to play. Being painted as a wild

green tiger, a fantasy, Amazon princess or a fanciful fairy, gives

us permission to let the serious adult in Students take a nap for few hours and let the children out.

Students of Samalkha Group Of Institutions(SGI) have also shown their Talent by participating

in Technical Fine art Competition. Ashish (1st Year , CSE), and Saurabh (1st Year , ME) participated

in Event-“Face Painting”. They Secured 1st Position , and the other team of Salman Khan (1st Year

ME) and Shubhum (1st Year ME) participated in Event “T-shirt painting” and secured 2nd Position.

Personality Development Classes for B.Tech Students at SGI Samalkha Group Institutions is committed to provide best and quality professionals to the global

Company to guide the students about how to improve their Person-

ality by wearing and communication skills. Mr. Abhishek (Branch

Head)and Mr. Gurpreet from Ma Foi Randstand were addressed to

students. Personality plays a vital role in the selection to any com-

pany. If you have a good personality but less of academic knowl-

edge then the selection can be made but reverse in not possible. So,

SGI is also working on improving the personality of the students.

Students were very much enthusiastic by such a PDP class organized by SGI and requested to con-

tinue to such classes so that they may work on their personality as well as academic. Dr. S. K. Matta

(HOD-Management), Dr. Praveen Bhatt (HOD-ASH), Mr. Vijayendra Kumar (HOD-EEE), Mr. Vi-

kas Uttraja (HOD-ECE), Mr. Kapil Chopra (HOD-ME), Mr. Manoj Sharma (HOD-CSE) and Mr.

Vishal Dora (TPO-SGI) along with faculty members and students of 3rd year were present in the PDP

classes.

Summer Internship by Aviva Life Insurance The Training and Placement cell of Samalkha Group of Institutions

(SGI) has organized Interviews for Summer internship in AVIVA

LIFE INSURANCE for MBA students. SGI is consistently working

on placements and internships to help students to get more and more

opportunity and to select the field in which they want to work in.

More than 50 students of MBA of Samalkha Group of Institutions

participated in Summer Internship Placement Drive. The selection

process consisted of Written Tests, Technical Interview and then HR

talks. The selected candidates have been offered packages ranging between 1.2 to 1.5 Lacs per an-

num. The candidates were hosted very well and all the arrangements for the basic requirements were

taken care by the institute‟s management. Students of the institute have also taken active participa-

tion in the fair to manage the event.
