Shadowed Wings• As part of her Individual Education Program under the

Gifted/Talented Visual Arts Program Andraea has been working with a group called “Pieces of Power”, founded by Richard Thomas a very well-known artist in his own right who also has a gallery.

• She, along with other members in this special group of talented and young adults, now have their work on display at the Contemporary Arts Center.

• To her credit, Andraea has also distinguished herself this year in receiving a Red Ribbon Award for overall Academic Achievement and a Gold Ribbon Award for Academic Achievement in Math for her Honors Algebra class!

A little about the founder of the program that Andraea works with: New Orleans Premiere

• Richard Thomas sold out 20th Anniversary Jazz & Heritage prints featuring Fatts Domino in 1989, and many people have been collecting Thomas work ever since.

• Thomas has become one of the legendary figures in New Orleans. He has established himself as a world class artist and judging from pass sales, many believe that a lot of you feel the same. His work continues to be sought after by a host of collectors; most recently, MTVs The Real World and Bob Newhart's show, George & Leo among a host of others.

New Orleans artist Richard C. Thomas continues in his tradition of creating the must have limited edition fine art print that is sure to become the hottest collectibles of this years Festival. From Mardi Gras to Jazz Fest, the spirit and contagious rhythms of New Orleans have over covered onto the colorful canvasses of this exciting artist. Through his unique style Visual Jazz, the idea of expressing ones self through diversity, inspiration, intuition, formally and informally and giving vision imagery and color to the sound and rhythm of New Orleans Cultural Heritage, Thomas captures the pure essence of New Orleans. Thomas currently owns and operates the Thomas Studio and Visual Jazz Art Gallery & Academy of Contemporary and Fine Art Inc. along with establishing the Pieces of Power group for the Gifted/Talent Young Adults.

This feels weird…but it’s a good weird!

I did this in commemoration for all the African Americans that gained their freedom. Though

scarred they still obtained their freedom.

Dedication for “Shadowed Wings” where Andraea feels her artwork would be displayed at in future

showings.
