How might we increase collaboration between the College and the schools in teaching international studies and in

supporting efforts at foreign outreach and technical assistance

“We [in Area Studies] see relatively little use of [our] wealth of language and regional knowledge in the training of professional schools or in backing up the efforts of your school to deliver assistance in foreign areas.” – David L. Ransel

“We [in the School of HPER] have made relatively little use of the wealth of language and regional knowledge in Area Studies and so let’s change that.” – Robert M. Goodman

histories•Respectful and peaceful transactions

Ideas for Increasing CollaborationPlace the School of HPER on your radar screen

Let’s be proactive collectively

Become involved in (and supportive of) HPER’s required General Education course: Cross-cultural Immersion in Promoting Health, Wellness, & Quality of Life of Nations

From global perspectives, students critically will analyze physical, social, and mental health of populations in nations, and their quality of life; assess the many indigenous factors that cross-culturally influence health and wellness; and acquire instruction and field experiences with our partner universities in the Far East, Near East, and Caribbean.

Work with us on language proficiency and cultural literacy

Integrate HPER’s expertise in public health promotion, disease prevention and wellness
