Making healthcare better with Operation Smile

Since the early 1990s, Stryker and Operation Smile have shared a vision to make health care better.

There is still more to do. No one NGO, corporation or government can solve the global lack of access to surgery alone. Together we can continue making healthcare better.

We share a global footprint in over 15 countries.

Stryker’s corporate investments are elevating the skills of health professionals worldwide

Rwanda surgical training rotationRwanda has only two plastic surgeons to serve a population of 12 million. Since 2015, Operation Smile and the University of Rwanda have partnered to provide specialized training in plastic surgery and anesthesia to residents.

Cleft surgeon’s training programAfter residency, surgeons have few opportunities to learn more about cleft care. The Cleft Surgeon’s Training Program provides surgeons with an individualized curriculum, mentorship and practical experience at medical missions.

Stryker resident leadership programProvided 240 medical residents with cross-cultural and field-based medical education opportunities.

Volunteer skills training programExtended training to more than 100 health care workers in Egypt and the Domincan Republic.

Stryker’s product donations and discounts have been instrumental to Operation Smile’s success

Stryker’s significant discount to Operation Smile for the custom-designed Magee Instrument Sets has enabled the organization to provide life-saving care to thousands worldwide. More recently, Stryker’s donations of Photon Blades and Colorado Needles could be found at Operation Smile programs in the Philippines, Rwanda, and Peru, helping surgeons to better see and perform in low-resource settings.

Together with Operation Smile, we are making healthcare better by funding innovative medical education programs and supporting medical missions.

Our shared dedication to the world’s most vulnerable children has resulted in a global employee engagement initiative that promotes peer-to-peer fundraising.
