This year’s event was completely underwritten by several area busi- nesses and individuals which allowed us to raise almost $34,000! Highlights of the evening included words of support from Sheriff Joel Richardson, a very entertaining live auction with volunteer auctioneer, Jim Shelburne, music from “The Martini’s” Jazz Band, fifty-eight fabulously decorated tables and over 160 auction items. Xcel CommunityGrant Awarded

A new Bible study on recovery issues isnow available to incarcerated women.Funding through Xcel Community Grantallowed Sharing Hope to purchase thefirst shipment of “Celebrate RecoveryInside”. This study is national know andcurrently being used in many Christ-based Recovery Programs. Womenwho are incarcerated can use Christianprinciples as they are working throughtheir recovery of addiction.

High Plains ChristianMinistries Foundation

Provides GrantSharing Hope Ministry is excited toannounce that we are expanding our currentBible study curriculum by seven additionalstudies. This expansion is possible due tofunding provided by the High PlainsChristian Ministries Foundation. Studiesthat will soon be available cover issues ondepression, suffering, prayer, failure, char-acter, relationships with others, and rela-tionship with God. This is an answer toprayer as we have had several women com-plete all the studies in our curriculum andshow a desire to continue to work throughBible studies to strengthen their faith dur-ing their incarceration.

Sharing HopeWins Contest!

Sharing Hope Ministry was selected asthe winner of FABRIC DREAMS charityquilt fabric giveaway. Carolyn Holmesand Linda Stafford presented a com-pelling application for Sharing HopeMinistry. As the winner we will be provid-ed fabric and advice. This quilt will beused as a fundraiser during the“Christmas in October” Gift and Craftshow. Several women are currently work-ing on the quilt which will be on display atthe Sharing Hope office in August. Ticketswill be available through the Sharing Hopeoffice and volunteers.

Special Thanks to Administration andStaff Members at

Potter and Randall County Jails

Chaplain Perez and his staff have helped SharingHope Ministry in so many ways throughout the lastfew years. They make it possible for our PotterCounty Jail Ministry team to come every week andminister to women who will eventually return to theAmarillo Community. Chaplain Perez has also pro-vided help for special projects including improve-ments to the Sharing Hope Office and help withassembling material sent to women with their Bibles.

Randall County administration and staff also ensurethat our volunteers can minister to area women eachweek. Not only does Randall County show contin-ued support to our volunteers, they also help withset up of both our ministry fundraisers. SharingHope Ministry would like to thank the administra-tion and staff and wish Lt. Johnny Sluder manyblessings, as he has recently retired from RandallCounty Jail.

It has been our privilege to work with the staff from both facilities as they continue to encourageus through their support as we share God’s love and hope to these incarcerated women.

Christmas in October is scheduled forOctober 28th and 29th at the North ExhibitHall of the Civic Center.

There will be many volunteer opportuni-ties and we would love for you to call theSharing Hope office at 358-7803 and letus know where you would like to serve.We are looking for volunteers in the follow-ing areas:

> Workers during the event

> Those who can provide items for the Bake Sale

> Women to make bows before the event

> Fluffer’s and Foofer’s to decorate the bake sale items.

> Women to provide Christmas or Fall containers, clear cellophane, decora-tions and ribbon for the Bake Sale.

> Donations for material for white tablecloths that fit 8’ rectangular tables orwomen who can surge the tablecloths

Christmas in October From the JailThe following was related by a Sharing

Hope Jail Ministry team member

“Yesterday, Kim, one of the womenattending the Randall County Bible study,shared that she has NEVER prayed forherself, only other people. A volunteershared the story of how Sharing Hope wasstarted, and some of the miracles God hasperformed throughout the years to pro-vide for all the Bibles and studies forincarcerated women. All six of the womenin the Bible study had tears in their eyesas they realized God truly cared aboutthem. As Kim was leaving she whisperedto the volunteer that she thought she wasready to talk to God about herself for thefirst time in prayer… She said that shewas going to start praying that Godwould help her heal and she would have achange in her life. ~March 2006

We Lo�e Our�olunteers!

April 23rd-29thSharing Hope volunteers provided over 9,000 hours last year

working to assist over 14,400 incarcerated women in the State of

Texas in their recovery from destructive behavior, by sharing

God’s love and hope through the teaching of His Word.

These volunteers, representing about 45 different churches,

come together to showGod’s love to the incarceratedwomenwho

needHim tomake the changes necessary to live a life full of hope.

We appreciate not only those workers that come each week but

also our donors who keep providing the Bibles and studies that

are sent out, and those that keep the ministry lifted up in prayer.
