    Coach Tuffy

decision of how best to move forwardShall we be fearful? Shall we hopeful? Or shall we feel the inspiratioto challenge our team and ourselves tobecome better?

The answer, of course, is yours tdecide.

    Thoughts from the Deck

because the challenge exists to makethings better. Obviously, then, onescharacter and frame of mind determinehow readily he brings about change andhow he reacts to change that is imposedon him. King Whitney Jr.

After a presidential election in whichthe rhetoric swirled around the motif of

change, I thought it would make afitting topic for this months newsletter.

VJO has undergone some monumentalchanges over the past month. Each and

every one of us have coped with it inour own way and when I first read theabove quote, I thought it spoke to howa lot of us might be feeling. Thedifferent and new bring the gamut of emotion, and these responses arehealthy and natural.

Sometimes change is positive ornegative, sometimes it inherently just is.Regardless of our feelings about thatchange, we are ultimately left with the

    Coach Aaron Jon

Change has considerablepsychological impact on thehuman mind. To the fearful it isthreatening because it meansthat things may get worse. Tothe hopeful it is encouragingbecause things may get better. To the confident it is inspiring

    Many Thanks!

I would like to thank all theswimmers who attended the

    Vacaville, Reno and Vallejomeets.

The team needs to swim inas many meet as possible now.

In the Spring time with high schoolswimming and many senior trial andfinal meets there are not as many agegroup meets for you to attend.

We will be trying something new thisyear. With the help of Mrs. Tucker (ouronly starter) we are arranging short (4hr.) Saturday meets. These will besmall meet with 3-5 invited teams. When we firm up the dates I will needyou and your parents to help with themeet. You will be swimming and yourparents will be helping to run the meet. This will provide a great opportunity for

you to swim and for your parents to tryout new jobs. My hope is that thesesmaller meets will encourage you signup and swim in meets during thesummer.

This year our Summer Championshipmeet will be in Ukiah, CA. We will be

staying over night and having fun. Thdates are August 7,8 & 9.

Mark your Calendars.Remember to dress warm, wear

    hat, shoes and socks.
