Welcome back to Term 4 which promises
to once again be an extremely exciting
but also busy term. It is a good time to
remember that ‘Every Day Counts’ here
at Sharon State School. If your child is
absent please remember to contact the
school office.
Prep Orientation Day
The school will be hosting a Prep
Orientation Day on Thursday 16th
November from 9:00am - 12 noon. We
cannot wait to meet our new preppies
who are looking at coming in to our

School Sport
Our Friday afternoon school sport for this
term has ‘kicked off’ with the girls
participating in Touch and the boys
playing Oz-Tag. It is sure to be fun for all
involved. The kids are excited to get out
there and ‘have a go’.
Swimming
The swimming program for years 3 - 6
children is commencing next Thursday
19th October and continues for 7 weeks
at Bundaberg Swimming Academy. In
this extremely humid weather at the
moment I am sure that the kids (as well
as possibly some staff) will be looking
forward to the opportunity.
Mosquitoes
Since our extremely wet start to Term 4
there has been a large increase in the
number of mosquitoes around the school.
The school is working hard to try and
combat this using the resources that we
have at our disposal. However it would
be advisable to apply a deterrent suitable
for your child at the beginning of the day.
Pupil Free Day
Just a reminder that next Monday 16th
October is a Pupil Free Day. Staff will
be at school, participating in
Professional Development activities and
planning for the rest of the year. Please
make other arrangements for your child
on this day if you haven't already done
so.
See you all on Tuesday...

We are studying the Storm Boy novel and film. We will be writing a comparison for our assessment. Some children have been drawing pictures in their own time because they have enjoyed reading the story
A Mr Percival picture by Umairah.
Year 4/5 Classroom
The students in Year 3/4 have been working with different types of measurement since the start of this term. They have measured length using pieces of string a metre long as well as our rulers to measure smaller lengths in millimetres. We have used grams and kilograms to measure mass as well as litres and millilitres to measure capacity. In maths and science we have been using our new thermometers to measure temperature. We are so good now, we could have helped Goldilocks decide which porridge to choose!
Year 3/4 Classroom
Page 8 A P&C Meeting was not able to happen on Wednesday 11th October due to a lack of attendance of parents and school community members. The next meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday 1st November at 5pm in the School Library and we would urge parents to attend as without parent input the P&C will be unable to assist with the usual end of year concerts, break ups, movie days and excursions that generally occur in Term 4 each year.
Just advising parents that the tuckshop will operate on TUESDAY ONLY and over the
term we will look at doing some other hot food days when they fit in the school
schedule.
