The Global Shea Alliance launched the industry’s � rst sustainability program in 2014. We issued a call to action for international businesses, women’s groups, non-pro� ts, and donors to tackle critical challenges facing the
industry today: women’s empowerment and declining tree populations. The industry has responded, and over 30 partners are undertaking new projects in a collaborative and coordinated way. At today’s conference, participants will
learn about new initiatives and best practices from leading companies, updates on GSA’s sustainability guidelines and projects, and the bene� ts of becoming a program partner.

She served in Mali, West Africa as a Peace Corps Volunteer from 2009-2012 and worked closely with the women in her village to found a shea butter cooperative, improve their shea butter production, make soap, and collect data for her research.
