• Set up in 1928.• Pioneered as oil distribution under Burma Shell.• Began operations with import and marketing of kerosene.• Company introduced LPG as a cooking fuel to the Indian home in the

mid of 1950 ‘ s.• In 1955 the company commissioned what was than India ‘s largest

refinery which was the first to process newly found indigenous crude(Bombay high) in the country.

• On 24 Jan 1976,shell group of companies was taken over by the government of India.

• Re-entered in 1993 with a 51:49 jv with BPCL (Bharat Shell)• In 1993 became 100% SHELL owned.• Into Petroleum, Natural Gas, Petrochemicals and Renewable Energy

terminal within a fully functional port.• About Hazira

– deep-water, all-weather and direct-berthing port– about 25 km from Surat city and about 120 nautical miles north of

Mumbai– is planned as a ‘Gateway Port’ to serve the hinterlands of North, West

& Central India – Port also falls close to the planned Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor

Shell Bitumen India • Set up in 2006.

• Uluberia Near Kolkata, West Bengal and at Savli, Gujarat.

• The plant is a modified bitumen and emulsion production plant that will produce a range of special application bituminous products such as different grades of Bitumen emulsions, Polymer Modified Bitumen and Crumb Rubber Modified Bitumen.

• Total capacity is 50000 mtpa.

• conventional grades of Bitumen such as Bitumen 60/70 (VG-30) and Bitumen 80/100 (VG-10)

• Shell Bitumen in India supplies ready to use instant road repair premix under brand name Shell Shelmac PR. This allows road to be opened to traffic within 10-15 minutes and imparts good strength to repaired area

• Refining crude oil we get Bitumen• Process used is Fractional Distillation.• Oil is heated to 200*c in heat exchanger.• Partly vaporized by heating to 300*c.• Passed to Atmospheric distillation, were physical

separation takes place.• Heaviest components falls and moves to vacuum

distillation via another heat exchanger.• Bitumen is passed to high density storage then for

filling drums of 200kg.

• The industrial customers of Shell Gas are serviced directly by the company from a fully owned import terminal at Pipavav, Gujarat for LPG.

• Shell Solar is actively engaging in partnerships with rural banks such as the Vysya Bank, Syndicate Bank, Canara Bank, the Nethravathi Grameena Bank and others, in order to facilitate finance options that match the cash inflows of customers.
