A PROCLAMATIONThe Shen Yun Performing Arts is an enchanting performance captivating its audiences taking

them on a journey porhaying timeless legends and themes through 5,000 years of Chinese

Civilization. It seeks to revive traditional Chinese culture providing a beautiful and inspiring

encounter for theater goers through a repertoire of pages from history, classic legends, diverse

ethnic traditions and universal themes.

Its performance feafures classical Chinese dance in its purest form from folk and ethnic dances, a

live orchestra combined with Western and Chinese instruments, vocal and instrumental solos, and

grandiose animated backdrops creating enthralled scenes imbued with bright colors and ancienr

designs. The Shen Yun Performing Arts is the largest Chinese music and dance ensemble in the

world and is independent from the Chinese govemment or any state entities. They carry out their

mission to revive authentic and traditional Chinese culture bridging any cultural gaps as their

performances are hosted by bilingual masters of ceremony in Chinese and English. The Shen yun

Performing Arts will be performing January l0 - 19, 2014 in the Lincoln Center, as they continue

to mesmerize their audiences performing to millions of people uplifting humanity through

messages of courage, hope, virtue and faith in the divine.

NOW' THEREFORE, I, CHARLES B. RANGEL, Representative of the Thirteentb

Congressional District of New York in the United States House of Representatives, do herebl

Welcome again to New York City. As a member of the NYC Council and as one whosits on the Cultural Affairs Committee, I am pleased to have your unique, classical Chinesedance and music company perform at one of our City's greatest venues, The David H KochTheatre at Lincoln Center.

Shen Yun's demonskable mastery of movement, music and mind is a marvel to behold.In reviving the essence of traditional Chinese culture based on the ideals of truthfulness,compassion, and forbearance, and by reaching back into the five, rich millennia of Chinesehistory, its classical legends, and the various ethnic traditions in both music and dance, yourcompany brings universal human themes to an exquisite, artistic level.
