Vocabulary• In Medias Res- ‘in the middle of things’
• Hook- something interesting that grabs your attention in the beginning
• Characterization- describing a character in detail– INDIRECT: describing actions or words without telling you
their personality exactly – DIRECT: telling you exactly what
that person is like
Vocabulary• Locked-Room Mystery= a story where the characters are
trapped with one another with no means of escape, and one of them has committed the crime. The others have to figure out who it is (ex. Mafia, or Murder on the Orient Express)
• Moment of Revelation- when the investigator either realizes or reveals who the criminal is

• Deduction = looking at all the details and forming a big picture
• Twist = unexpected information that changes the way we view someone or something
