BUSINESS OF THE MONTH
Your Extra Specialties, Inc is owned by Valerie Davis and has been a xture in the Arkansas business community since 1984. What is YES? Valerie says that the short answer to that question is, “We Put your Name on Stu!” Philip, Valerie’s business partner adds, “The stu she is talking about is promotional products.” Promotional products are little billboards that take your company’s name into the business world and keeps it in front of the people who buy what you sell. There are at least a ½ million dierent kinds of promotional products. T-shirts imprinted with your company’s name and logos are promotional products. So are embroidered polo shirts and jackets that are worn by your employees. Those interesting little items that you give to prospective customers at a trade show…those are promotional products. Has your bank ever give you a pen, travel mug or license plate with its name on them? They gave you promotional products. When your insurance or real estate agents send you a birthday card they have given you a promotional product. Promotional products keep on advertising. That calendar you gave to your customer reminds her of what service you provide, where you’re located and how many ways she can get in touch with you. The same goes for those letter openers you handed out at the Sherwood Chamber Luncheon. No matter what products you choose, you can put your advertising…your billboard…directly into the hands of the people who buy what you sell. So, when you need that “stu,” Valerie and Philip talk about…the right stu to take you name into the business world…call them. DON’T FORGET...
The Sherwood Chamber of Commerce was honored to have Governor Mike Beebe speak at its inaugural luncheon at the Greens at North Hills. In his
remarks, Governor Beebe emphasized how important it has become for all the cities of Central Arkansas and around the state to work together to make
Arkansas the best it can be. As an example , he told the story of when Hewlett-Packard came to town and needed a home in Central Arkansas. Several cities competed for the site. He noted that while every city that
pitched to HP built up their strengths as a city, none would talk poorly about their competitors. He also bragged on how Arkansas was one of only a few
states that was not expected to have budget shortfalls. Jay Chesshir, President of the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce echoed the
Governor’s comments when he spoke later in the meeting. He emphasized that being competitive for your city is great but it is also important to
remember to work with your region as well.
