Our Philosophy

SHOKAY,   which  means   yak   down   in   Tibetan,   is   the  world’s   first   lifestyle  brand  that  focuses  on  designing  luxury  products  made  from  yak  down.  Our  design  philosophy   is   timeless  elegance  with  a  modern   twist.  We  believe   in  producing  pieces   that  not   only   can  be  worn   season  after   season,  but   also  generation  after  generation.

Our Yaks

Our  fibers  are  hand-­combed  from  yaks  who  dwell   in  the  remote  Himalayan  regions   of  Western   China.   Each   yak   produces   about   100g   of   fine   downy  fiber  every  year,  enabling  us  to  create  a  soft  and  beautiful  fabric.  The  same  fiber   that   keeps   yaks  warm   in   extreme   altitudes   is   also  what   keeps   you  warm.

Our Impact

SHOKAY   aims   to   source   our   yak   f iber   direct ly   from   Tibetan   herders,  enabling  them  to  earn  a  long-­term  sustainable  living  while  preserving  their  traditional   lifestyle.   Our   knitwear   is   hand   knit   by   a  women's   cooperative  on  Chong  Ming  Island,  which  provides  local  women  an  important  source  of  employment.

Many   brands   around   the  world   have   started   using   SHOKAY   yarns   in   their  designs.   Using   our   yak   yarns   not   only   ensures   the   highest   quality   and  traceability,  but  also  the  broadest  social  impact.
