1.Discipline and its UniformThe world is slowly but surely moving towards being more democratic and tolerant. This is changing the daily behavior of people all around the world. One specific change seen today is rebellion against discipline.

Discipline today is seen in varying lights, right from the positive, neutral to the downright negative. It is also one of the hottest topics for debate.

The young as well as the old generation simply refuse to adhere to norms which don't seem right to them - a behavior unheard of just a century ago. Inadvertently, this change in daily behavior is springing up quite some uncomfortable but relevant questions. One such question is - should students have to wear uniforms?

The Uniform

A uniform is today seen as an act of forced discipline and also of being one with a group. The uniform, in fact, is known to be the epitome of submission, obedience, system and of course, education .

The uniform was an attire of high standing once, and many a student must have their chest puffing with pride over the fact that his or her uniform is the cleanest in the class and the smartest as compared to other schools.

This brings to mind the thought that there is a certain age when the human mind not only accepts but requires systematic discipline, wherein others take decisions about their day to day life.

Modern thinkers and modern thinking have brought about a change in this thinking. Modern thinking says that the uniform is a cage to creativity and a way of bringing out obedience to the authorities and the system right from an early age. Some may also point out that children are at their creative best as well as ready to be molded into a certain character at a certain age.

Some thinkers have also propagated that students of the different genders should be given a free hand over whether they should come to school wearing clothes, let alone uniforms, to school. These ideas are nothing new, nor are they totally illogical.

For example, the thinkers propagating 'nudist schools', as in 'nudist beaches' say that if children are exposed to the anatomy of the opposite bodies at a young age, chances are that we may have lesser blushing faces in the 'Human Anatomy classes' of higher and medical schools, and therefore, better and frank education from day one.

These ideas aren't new or anything out of the world. It is just now, with the freedom and globalization and the internet, that the ideas have got a wider audience, and therefore, wider acceptance or non-acceptance.

Should Students Wear Uniforms? All said and done, the uniform is not only apparel; it is the identity of the child till a certain time. How many cases have we heard when a lost child was recognized not by their 'baby blue eyes' or 'brunette bangs at the side' but by their dirtied uniforms?

children, but the uniform will always stay.

The uniform also maintains oneness and equality amongst the school children. There are times when students from varied socio-economic backgrounds study at the same school. It is at such times that the common identity these uniforms give come in handy.

Wearing a uniform is helpful even in later life. Students wearing a uniform all their educational years will have no qualms about coming to office wearing the corporate uniform - formal wear, tie and jacket.

Though the uniform is the visualization of discipline, even discipline is not wrong till a certain age. Therefore, children should be kept under discipline, and therefore, in a uniform till they become majors, and that is when they can make their own decisions.

Therefore, it will only be safe to not only allow, but ensure that every child leaving home is properly attired in his or school uniform for safety. and progress.

2. People ought to decide whether students should wear the uniform or not; some people think that wearing uniform is a good idea while others oppose the idea. As far as I am concerned, to wear uniforms is a good idea, but first I will list all the possible disadvantages and advantages of uniforms.First of all, wearing uniforms helps students to focus harder on school studies; they shouldn’t spend time on thinking about what to wear next or how to look better than the classmates. It is known that teenagers tend to show off and to do everything just to be better than others. Saying simply, paying less attention on clothes they can learn more at school.Another advantage of wearing uniforms is that students won’t buy fashion and expensive clothes, so that they will save money, which their parents earn with a hard working. Also, wearing uniforms can help some students to avoid uneasiness from the side of their classmates, for example, students who can allow themselves to wear expensive and fashion clothes can confuse those students that haven’t enough money to buy it. Wearing uniforms helps us to develop the sense of self-discipline, which will help us in future, for example going to the interview to get a job it would be ridiculous to come in jeans with yellow t-shirt and sneakers, we should know the scope between official and nonofficial styles. But wearing uniforms also has its disadvantages. Students wearing whatever they want can show their real personalities. It is some kind of art; with the help of clothes we can show our mood such as happiness or sadness. All things considered, taking into account all the given advantages and disadvantages of wearing uniforms I can conclude that students should wear uniforms in order to comply with rules and to have equality between each other.

3. School uniforms have been a topic of discussion and debate between parents and administrators. There are different opinions of the effect that school uniforms have on children's social acceptance, comfort and behavior and the cost to the parents.

InsightChildren who cannot afford the latest fashion are sometimes ridiculed by their peers. Cliques can develop based on students' clothing styles, and some students find that their peers judge them by what they wear. School uniforms can take the pressure off of keeping up with the latest fad and being socially rejected due to clothing choice.

Significance of costIt can be argued that it is more expensive to wear "trendy school clothes" compared to mandatory school uniforms. Parents should consider the cost of trying to keep up with their children's wardrobe. Uniforms are easier to maintain and ca be less costly. However, parents do still have to purchase fashionable clothes for their children outside of the school setting. This could result in parents having to spend money on both school uniforms and fashionable clothes.EducationThere are many school educators who support mandatory school uniforms and believe that they improve students' academic, social and behavioral performance. When uniforms are not mandatory, of course, students will rely on the latest fashion statements. This can may be distracting to focused learning, but it all depends on the individual student. Parents may also be concerned that the time that children spend preparing their clothes for school the next day could be better spent if uniforms were allowed.BehaviorAn argument supporting the policy of school uniforms is that they foster good behavior among students and may reduce school violence. The school environment tends to stricter and students are more than likely to follow the rules of the school.ConsiderationsA child's self expression is important to that child. Student express who they are and their individuality by what they wear. Schools that have compulsory uniform guidelines may take away that kind of self expression. However, students can find other ways to express themselves in school by getting involved in school programs that showcase their abilities and not their attire.

4. Pros and cons on why students should wear uniform?Pros-

1. A school uniform makes it easier for the school authorities to recognize students belonging to their school. It also makes it somewhat tougher for those that don’t belong to slip in; unless, of course, they go to all the trouble of buying a uniform that fits.

2. A school uniform also saves the school administrators from having to police what the students wear. There are no daily battles regarding what’s appropriate or not for school.

3. A school uniform apparently also saves students from putting their fashion tastes before their learning requirements. When they don’t have to spend time wondering what to wear and how to make a fashion statement, they can devote more time to getting an education. Theoretically, that is.

4. Wearing the same type of dress reduces social snobbery and peer pressure in educational institutions. It is also supposed to reduce incidents of bullying and theft. How do you pick on someone for wearing the same dress as yourself? Why would you steal a pair of shoes you both have and can afford? I suppose there are ways and there are reasons, but fewer.

5. School uniforms cramp the style of gang members. They have to recognize each other by names and faces instead of by flaunting aggressively painted jackets, T-shirts with obscene messages, clunky jewelry, and things like that. Instead of ‘my gang’ and ‘your gang’, they also have to think in terms of ‘our school’. It’s a hard life. On the brighter side, it helps them to live another day and go on to survive in college.

6. A school uniform can instill a sense of discipline and community feeling. This naturally reduces incidents of violence. Students can come to school without worrying about personal safety. Teachers don’t have to double as guards, and can concentrate on teaching.

Cons-

I don't really know a lot of cons other that these:

1) School uniforms may hinder self expression through clothing, forcing children to find other ways to put across who they are. Children who wear school uniforms are more likely to use makeup early, and many resort to extreme accessories or to alter their uniforms to make themselves different from others. For example, many girls shorten their skirts as a way to rebel against the severity of school uniforms.

2) Self expression and individuality is important to a child's development. Wearing school uniforms may teach children that is OK to conform to standards, even if you don't agree with them. It also sends the child a mixed message, as the real world does not allow for safe options such as wearing a uniform.

3) They stifle creativity.4) They infringe on development of personal taste.5) They don't appeal to everyone's taste.4) They can identify students on their way home, or to off campus activities, making them targets for rivals.
