Kickingoff February with a bang with

the S.C.R.U.B.S. day event, abbreviation ofSHRMs Club

Recruitment Ultimate BiannualSocial. On that cold Saturday

morning, our banner wasraised tall and proud uponour tent, calling all SHRMiesto Bachman Lawn for a day of

    fun and excitement!

Event hosted by Kainoa Fong, the chapters Director ofStudent Affairs, who started

the day off with a game of aninformal introduction. Theobjective of the activity wasfor both the returning andprospective students, to learn

about each other. It was thenfollowed up with a game of

bingo, and an impromptudance-off between the boardmembers and their squads.

While Madame President, HaVong, put up a decent fight, she could not defeat our VicePresident and Lord of the

    S.C.R.U.B.S.

    Dance, Leon Sheen. In a

surprise twist, the twerking ofthe IT Director, Michael Hoe,resulted in a tie between himand the VP.

Unable to decide, themembers chanted for a danceoff between the two dancecaptains and the game was onLeon dougied as hard as he

could, but unfortunately, itwas not enough to defeat theIT Director who threw awayhis shame and became as

    ratchet as he could be.

The students then gathered atCampus Center to grab acomplimentary lunchprovided by the chapter.

Afterwards, the chapterconducted a joint activity withthe Entrepreneurs club. Weplayed an indoor game ofcharades and networking.

The overview of S.C.R.U.B.S.was a success. And mostimportantly the studentsenjoyed themselves!

    BACK-2-BUSINESS

    FEBRUARY 07

Whatbetter way isthere to end a week than withlate night bowling and free

energy drinks? Probably a lot,but when you throw in ourawesome SHRMies, itbecomes pretty hard to beatLane 12 and 13 at Aiea Bowls

Back-to-Business bowlingevent, hosted by the Shidler

College of Business Inter-Business Council (IBC).

When the clock struckmidnight, IBC held a dance-

off event that pitted each ofthe presidents against eachother in two teams. Even

though they tried valiantly, HaVong, SHRM Aloha Chapter

president, led the Red Teamto victory over the WhiteTeam.

    Over all, the members and

alumni who came to the eventhad a fun night of bowling, games and silly dance off

    amongst the presidents!

    Q2: What would your super

    hero name be?

    MEET OUR SHRMIESFeaturin

    ISSAC GENG JUN FANG

We would like to recognize Issac Geng

Jun Fang as our Veteran SHRMie of theMonth! Known as Geng to his friends,

Issac is a hardworking, dedicated SHRMie

who has been with SHRM since itsrebuilding years. When asked why he hasstuck around for so long, he replied withhis trademark smile, Because

everyones really nice. Ahealthy office culture is

very important to Issac, aswhen asked what he liked

the most about SHRM, hereplied The people, theactivities, and the tours.

    Throughout his tenure in

    SHRM, Issac has obtained

priceless professional and interpersonalskills and connections through our tours, workshops, and especially our ProfessionalInteraction Night; skills which will be

invaluable to him when he makes his wayinto the dream industries of banking or

    travel such as hotel management.

At the Februarys company tour with Bank

of Hawaii, Issac asked questions and

The power of teleportation. I think it

would be so convenient to think of aplace and simply appear there. I

would be able to travel the world and

    no longer wait in traffic.

    Arik Ma

    My super power would be

    immortality. I would outlive humanity

and take over the world. Josh Shon

Clock-man. My power is time travel,

controller of time. We can fix and

learn from the past but also make it

    right.

    Riley Ching

I would have the power of a super

athlete. I can play all the sports and

get paid millions in endorsements. Plu

I would help SHRM on Super Clubs

    Day

    Kenny Cheong

The KOOSH, because my last name

Kushi and I want to smoke the

    competition. Jared Kushi

Huntress because she's a hero that

fights for revenge despite what other

tell her to do, and she falls to her

desire to avenge her family. She's a

    very temper character, influenced by

those around her and I think I'm likethat too.

    Diana Nguyen

Phoenix because I like fire, birds and

    Icarus dives.

    Ariel Lee

Ill call myself Native Ninja because

am a Native American with some

    mad ninja skills!

    Justin Riggs

learned very important skills from the

panel of representatives. At the GreatAloha Run Packet Pickup Distribution

event, he pulled up his britches in the weehours of the morning and serviced all of

the runners in a thorough and efficient

manner; all without losing his million-dollarsmile. At our car wash, he tucked his head

in and braved the bad weather in orderto help us wash cars with speed

    and efficiency.

    Alongside our professional

events, he also appeared atour first social of the semester:

    S.C.R.U.B.S, showingcamaraderie and friendliness

to welcome all the newmembers into our SHRM Ohana.

Currently a senior triple majoring inFinance; Human Resources; and

International Business, and minoring inSpanish, Issac hopes to study abroad to

the city of love, Paris, before hegraduates. While he may be going therefor the food and the arts, it is suspected

that he wants to travel there in his questfor his ideal superpower, the power to

    control other peoples minds.

    LARSEN MIHO

Alongside our veteran member, we would

also like to recognize Larsen Miho as our

Rising Star of the Month! Having seen the

darker side of clubs in high school and

college, Larsen was naturally skeptical of

joining another club, but this semester, he

has taken the brave step into joining SHRM!

When asked why he joined us, he coolly

said, I knew a guy who was inSHRM. You can trust this man

    with your secrets, he wont

    drop names!

    Even though he has only

been in SHRM for a month,

    he also praised us saying,

SHRM is certainly moreorganized than any other

club Ive been in. The officers

know their duties well, are highly

    motivated, and very approachable. The

members themselves are a really cool

bunch of people, and overall, its a good

    club to be in.

Just like how he thinks so highly of us, we also

think very highly of Larsen! He has proven

himself to be a very dedicated and

    hardworking member, attending the most

events out of any new member and

displaying a work ethic worthy of his

eternally well-combed hair. At the GreatAloha Run Packet Pickup Distribution event,

he helped to assemble the packets so fast

and so efficiently that his line was able totake a couple of breaks!

    At our resume-building workshop,

Larsen showed great intrigue and asked the

professionals for advice on his resume, obtaining indispensable knowledge and skills

on how to market himself to employers, a skill

that he hoped to gain from SHRM.

He also hopes to improve his

interview skills, which I think he

    will learn all about from

    Marchs Mock Interview!

    Larsen is currently a senior

    majoring in Political Science,

and his dream job is to work asan intelligence officer. Keeping

    your sources anonymous is a

great start! It also makes sense how

his ideal superpower would be invisibility.

His favorite quote is, I dont need luck,

though. I dont want it. Ive always had to

struggle and fight, and thats made me

strong. Its made me who I am. With such

epic words to live by, it really shows that

Larsen believes in hard work and the fruit

    that it bears!

    SHRM WELLNESS TIPS

    Healthy Sleep Tips

    National Sleep Foundation

    1. Stick to the same bedtime and wake up time, even on the weekends. This helps to regulate your body's clock and could helpyou fall asleep and stay asleep for the night.

    2. Practice a relaxing bedtime ritual.A relaxing, routine activity right before bedtimeconducted away from bright lights helps separate your

sleep time from activities that can cause excitement, stress or anxiety which can make it more difficult to fallasleep, get sound and deep sleep or remain asleep.

    3. Avoid naps, especially in the afternoon.Power napping may help you get through the day, but

if you find that you can't fall asleep at bedtime, eliminating even short catnaps may help.

    4. Exercise daily.Vigorous exercise is best, but even light exercise is

better than no activity. Exercise at any time of day, butnot at the expense of your sleep.

    5. Evaluate your room.Design your sleep environment to establish theconditions you need for sleep. Your bedroom should be

cool between 60 and 67 degrees. Your bedroomshould also be free from any noise that can disturb yoursleep. Finally, your bedroom should be free from anylight. Check your room for noises or other distractions.

This includes a bed partner's sleep disruptions such assnoring.
