SHS Dress Code 101: How We Dress
at SHS
Seguin ISD Dress Code
The District prohibits any clothing or grooming that in the principal’s judgment may reasonably be expected to cause disrup/on of or interference with normal school opera/ons.
The district’s dress code is established to teach grooming and hygiene, prevent disrup/on, and minimize safety hazards. Students and parents may determine a student’s personal dress and grooming standards, provided that they comply with the following:

Oh No: Skirts and shorts that are more than 6 inches above the knee are prohibited. Even when worn with leggings//ghts, the 6-‐inch rule applies.
All shirts must cover the shoulders. SpagheS straps and tank tops are not acceptable for female or male students.
We do not wear hats on campus at any /me, unless authorized by campus Principal for school related ac6vi6es. Do-‐rags are also prohibited.

• Extremely short shirts, halter-‐tops, tank tops, strapless or spagheS-‐strap tops, other clothing with deep-‐cut openings or that does not cover the shoulders, midriff and lower back
• Sheer or see-‐through clothing alone or over other unacceptable clothing
• Hats, caps or any type of head covering on campus during the school day
• Dark glasses unless prescribed by a physician (physician’s note required)
• Contact lenses which are paVerned or an unnatural color
• Hair that is not a natural human color (green, blue, pink, etc.) or that is an outlandish style (including, but not limited to, mohawks and swirly or decora/ve paVerns or symbols into the hair), which may cause disrup/on to the learning environment

On the secondary campuses, unacceptable clothing and accessories include:
• Studded or spiked gloves or jewelry including wallet chains, jewelry with sharp-‐pointed or round marble-‐sized objects, spikes, and/or chains (i.e., 1/4” link) of any type. This also includes, but is not limited to, safety pins, fishhooks, straight pins, etc. These items will not be worn outside clothing or allowed on backpacks .
• Body piercing jewelry (excluding the ear) including the tongue/face jewelry, lips, chin, eyebrow, nose, belly rings. Covering body piercing jewelry with band-‐aides or tape is not acceptable.
• Bedroom/lounging aSre (pajamas, slippers, house shoes, etc.)
• Tight-‐fiSng or revealing clothing (Clothes should be of the appropriate size.)

Romper length must also meet the 6-‐inch rule. All skirts, skorts, shorts can be no shorter than 6 inches above the mid-‐knee.
Wear a shirt that covers the shoulders under the aqua romper.

Ear piercings are OK. None of these models have nose, brow, or lip piercings.
What’s wrong with this picture? Oh No: Rips that reveal skin above the 6-‐inch limit are a violaNon. Do not wear these jeans to school.

High heels are not a safe choice for our campus. Although these are not a viola/on of the dress code, a lower heel would be a beVer choice.

• Pants or shorts worn below the waist
• Oversized or excessively baggy or long shirts worn out, including athle/c jerseys and “tall tees” (Any shirts that go past the buVocks must be tucked in.)
• Extremely short shirts, halter-‐tops, tank tops, strapless or spagheS-‐strap tops, other clothing with deep-‐cut openings or that does not cover the shoulders, midriff and lower back
• Clothing that reveals undergarments or has holes in inappropriate places
