Welcome to a fantastic program!

It’s one we like to think of as the best in Texas.

Our hallmark is our personal touch!

Page 3: SHSU Library Science Graduate Seminar 2015

Relax and Breathe Easy

• Over the next hour, we will cover a large amount of information.

• This may seem overwhelming. It is not meant to be a stressful experience.

• You are not expected to remember everything presented during this hour right now. BUT, you are expected to know it. That is why you should read over the PDF of this presentation that will be shared with you under the link to Graduate Seminar in the LSSL Graduate Student Blackboard Organization course.

NCATE Accreditation

• National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) is the teaching profession’s mechanism to help to establish high quality teacher, specialist, and administrator preparation.

• NCATE was founded in 1954.

• NCATE currently accredits 632 colleges of education with nearly 100 more seeking NCATE accreditation.

• Changes are come to the accreditation process. The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) will be the new name for NCATE in the near future.

• With this change, we can expect to focus more on P-12 student learning in the library. This includes documentation.
