Shur-Lok provides a variety of MiscellaneousFasteners for a wide variety of applicationsThe Fasteners in this Catalog are comprisedof three categories Blind Inserts, Flush Nutsand Isolator Mounts

Further options include alloy or corrosionresistant steel and a selection of finishes as wellas dri-film lubricant Installation of both types isaccomplished by manual, semi-pneumatic orpneumatic tooling available from Shur-LokCorporation

BLIND INSERTS Example (Figure 1) SL850

Blind Inserts as the name implies, areinstalled from one side of the panel structureThis type of threaded insert is secured to thepanel structure by the combined action ofexternal knurls and the outward deformationof the thin-walled counter-bored section whenpull-up force is applied (Figure 1) Theseinserts offer the choice of protruding or flushhead styles, as well as, through or blindthreaded Thread sizes offered include 1380-32 thru 3750-24 inch threads The range ofinch thread sizes are also offered in the sameequivalent metric thread sizes M3 thru M10The inserts are offered with or without athread self-locking feature When applicablethe thread-locking torque is per MIL-DTL-25027 specification for inch threads and perNA0009 for metric threads

ISOLATOR MOUNTS

Isolator mounts in this section have beenwidely used in aircraft between structuralmembers and interior trim Shur-Lok IsolatorMounts provide an effective means for thereduction of vibration noise and heat transferinto crew and passenger areas The Isolatormounts have also been found equally usefulin many other similar type applications

Typical installations are shown by ( Figure 1)internally threaded insert method of structureattachment( Figure 2 ) Quarter-turn receptacle for easeof structure removal and reinstallation.

The threaded type Isolators are provided withinch or metric threads The inch thread sizesoffered are 1640-32 and 1900-32 the metricare offered in M4 and M5 internal threads

The inch threaded Isolators are offered withexternal threads in some styles Internalthreaded Isolators can be procured withlocking or non-self-locking threads Inchinternal thread locking-torque is perMIL-DTL-25027 Isolators are also offeredwith non-threaded receptacle to be used withQuarter-turn stud for quick installation andremoval Isolators with Quarter-turnreceptacle are used where the structures areoften removed and reinstalled
