South Vietnam: Positive macro economic indicators will continue to
drive demand. After double digit growth market is expected to grow at a
more sustainable rate of 3-5% in the short to medium term
Cement Supply and Demand in South Vietnam
Driving Factors to construction industry• GDP growth over 6% in the medium to long term
• Consistent FDI flow (SVN – Q2/19 ~9 Billion USD)
• Further benefit in short term from US-China trade war.
Negative Factors • Constructions license freeze in main market of HCMC (35%
contribution) is impacting cement demand in short term
• Pricing pressure – Inability to pass on the escalating cost to
customer
Strategy• Building additional cement and clinker capacities to capture
demand growth
• Strengthen position in growing bulk segment
• Leverage SCCC Group product portfolio and introduce new
product ranges in light building materials in all key markets.
Digitalization of our channels
• Move towards composite cement to address price premium gap
and reduce carbon footprint.
• Expand waste management business beyond kiln co-processing.
