UHP and runflat with reinforced flank wheels are becoming more and more popular and are already chosen by many car manufacturers as first equipment. The after market offers moreover a wide range of rim/tyre combinations, which can make the dismounting/mounting operations more compli-cate.

These difficulties have made compulsory the projecting and developing of more and more profes-sional tyre changers, in a position to enable the tyre dismounting and mounting, and able to make this without any risk of causing permanent damages to the flank or to the bead of the tyre.

These damages can, in the mid/long term and under extreme conditions, cause car accidents or compromise the driving safety.

In Germany the following organizations: •WDK (Wirtschaftverband der deutschen Kautschukindustrie) Association of the Rubber manu- facturers •BRV (Bundesverband Reifenhandel und VulkaniseurHandwerk) – Association of all tyre dealers and workshops, Dekra (certifying Body) •MPA ( Staatliche Materialpruefung TU in Darmastadt) – Testing department of the University of Darmstadt started collaborating few years ago to face this problem, and decided to release rules, aimed to safeguard the dismounting and mounting of UHP and runflat tyres on tyre changers.

In Germany it is therefore mandatory, starting from the end of 2008, that all tyre changers expected to handle UHP and runflat tyres have been certified according to WDK rules released by DEKRA.

Sice was one of the first automotive equipment manufacturers to start complying with WDK rules and then obtaining the certification on almost all the range.

We believe that other Countries in Europe further to Germany will think of complying with those rules in the short term and will recognize the WDK certification.

We are therefore happy to inform you that Sice, not only keeping up with the progress, but even anticipating it, is already in a position to put at your disposal: a) present tyre changer range and relevant PT device able to demount all difficult wheels; b) WDK accessory kit to make the present range certified according to WDK rules c) WDK retrofit kit to update the previous generation of tyre changers according to WDK rules.
