• The 2008 Sichuan earthquake or the Great Sichuan Earthquake was a deadly earthquake that measured at 8.0 and 7.9 it occurred at 2:28 May 12, 2008 in Sichuan province of China and killed at least 68,000 people

• The earthquake was one of the worst in the world with over 68,712 dead and 374,643 people injured the Strong aftershocks, some exceeding magnitude 6, continued to hit the area 2 weeks
after the earthquake of the magnitude 8.0 hit!
Affected area
• The area affected was almost all of Sichuan
• This devastated over a million people
Causes • The main cause was plate tectonics
• This is when the continental plates under the ground witch are floating on boiling hot lava collide.
• This particular earthquake happened when the Indian plate hit the Eurasian plate

The earthquake destroyed many homes and killed many people but these people have endured one of the worst psychological and physical affects ever.

This disaster cost over six million uk pounds of damage in the industries alone, mud slides and cracked roads slowed down medical supplies the town was destroyed and now it is a ghost town

• People have not been back to the town even today because it is to dangerous
• Lots of belongings have been left behind but the uk and the us offered help and set up troops in china to help people who need it.
