Summary

In this story there was a boy named Matt. His father leaves him alone in the woods to go get the rest of the family. Matt meets a boy named Attean who is an Indian. Attean teaches Matt how to survive and Matt ends up teaching Attean how to read, write and learn how to speak fluent english.

Our favorite part

Our favorite part of “The Sign of the Beaver” is the part where Matt saves Attean’s dog from a steel trap. Matt gets help from Attean’s sister. Attean’s dog gains trust by Matt helping the dog.

Examples

I once saw a dead rabbit on the sidewalk as I was jogging with my dad. We did not notice it was a rabbit until we saw the floppy ears.
