IntroductionChicken has always been a dish of choice in

Pakistan Before the start of commercial poultry, chicken

was cooked at home to serve very special guests or when a person would fall Sick

Development of poultry has made it possible for common man to include chicken in his Menu

People of Pakistan are deficient in animal protein (12%) and poultry meat is bridging this gap

ASIAN CHIKEN MEAT PRODUCTION More then 60% of world’s population lives in

ASIA, this region is accounting for increasing share of global chicken meat output

In Asia chicken meat production represents around 35%. ( 29 MILLION TONNES)

China is the leading producer in the region i.e 44% of total production. Other countries in Asia also expanded there productions

China reaches upto 5 million tones a year.While India is the second largest producer

in asia producing 2.7 million tonesBetween 1970 and 2006, the annual per

capita availability of chicken meat rose from 146 gram to 1.8 kilogram

in 1976 Poultry boom period with spectacular progress year after

year. This rising trend continues till 1990. After that due to disease load every year ups and down

trend is seen till now.

are the main cause of heart disease It is the rich source of poly unsaturated

fatty acid like Omega-3-fatyy acidChicken is a very good source of lean,

high quality proteinProtein is an essential nutrient

for growth and development plays an important role in assisting overweight

and obese people in losing weight fast

chicken also help against bone loss. Even 100 gm of chicken breast accounts for more than half of the recommended dietary intake of protein.

Chicken is a rich source of niacin, a B-vitamin that protects the body against cancerA deficiency of niacin can be directly

associated with genetic (DNA) damageAround 72% of the daily niacin requirement of

the body can be fulfilled by a four-ounce serving of chicken

Cont…The trace mineral selenium is found in good quantities in

chickenIt is an essential component required by many major

metabolic pathways, which includes thyroid hormone metabolism anti-oxidant defense systems immune function of the body

Vitamin B6, present in chicken, plays a crucial role as a methyl donor in the basic cellular process of transferring methyl groups from one molecule to another, leading to the formation of a wide range of important active molecules. This process is known as Methylation. The availability of methyl groups is lessened due to the inadequacy of B6, which can result in damage to the blood vessels

Cont…Vitamin B6, along with niacin, makes chicken

a favorable food in supporting the energy metabolism of the body. Both these B-complex vitamins help the enzymes throughout the body to guide the metabolic reactions      

Chicken meat is a good source of phosphorus Phosphorus maintains the

health of teeth and bones ensures healthy functioning of the kidneys,

liver and the central nervous system
