*Each Sigurd 345/230 kV transformer #5 and #6 has 448/502 MVA (Normal/4-hour ratings). 497 MW is used

to have 5 MW margin.

• This RAS results in

―Up to 80 MW generation tripping

―No load losses

• Misoperation or failure of this RAS will result in thermal overloads on

either the Sigurd 345/230 kV transformer #5 or #6.

― Operating procedure is proposed due to misoperation or failure.

― Operating procedure is using Sigurd 230/230 kV phase shifting

transformer to reverse power flow (southbound). Based on the

transformer heat test on heat-run program, Grid Ops will have at

least 2 hours to utilize the phase shifting transformer to adjust the

system before the remaining transformer trips (before the transformer

temperature reaches 130°C).

Therefore, Sigurd RAS is classified as a LAPS.
