silent auction rulesThe silent auction begins at 5:30pm and ends at 7:00pm. A bid sheet and fact sheet are displayed with each item. Bids may be entered by legibly writing one’s bidder number and bid amount on the bid sheet. Each new bid must be written on the next available line on the bid sheet and must be in increments as indicated. If a dispute occurs regarding the final bid, each bidder will be asked to write his or her bid on a sheet of paper. The highest bid will be the winning bid. Once a bid is entered, it may not be removed.

Your bidder number on the bid sheet is a legal contract to purchase the lot if you are the winner. The highest bid at the close of the auction table is the winning bid. Please read the fact sheets carefully for restrictions or special conditions.

‘ B U Y I T N OW ’ All of the silent auction lots have a Buy It Now value. To guaran-tee that you are the winning bidder of a particular item, enter a Buy It Now bid at the bottom of the bid sheet as indicated, along with your signature. In most cases, the Buy It Now bid will be at 150% of the item’s stated value, but may be as high as 300% of the value. When a Buy It Now bid is made, bidding on that item will be closed and you are the guaranteed winner.

‘ D R I N K M E T O N I G H T ’Some silent auction wines have been designated as excellent vintages to ‘Drink Me Tonight.’ These bid sheets have an extra box to the right of the bid amount. If you wish to enjoy your winnings immediately, mark the box, and the wine will be brought to your table to be served during dinner.

PAY M E N T A N D R E C E I P T O F I T E M SGuests have the option to pre-register a credit card at check-in. Winning silent auction bidders will be presented with an invoice during the dinner, and guests who have not pre-registered will have the option to pay at that time to avoid waiting in line at the conclusion of the event. Merchandise may be picked up outside the ballroom at the conclusion of the dinner.

All sales are final and no exchanges or refunds are allowed. Dates for services, vacations, parties, et cetera, are to be arranged by mutual convenience between the donor and pur-chaser. Time periods designated for use of homes, restaurants, gift certificates, services, hotels, and resorts are not subject to change unless otherwise indicated.

Payment for auction items may be made following the sale by personal check, American Express, Visa, or MasterCard. Payment in full, including 8.75% sales tax where applicable, is required. All items must be claimed at the end of the evening unless size or quantity prevents their removal. It has been our intent to describe accurately all items with the information pro-vided to us by our generous contributors. Some restrictions and blackout periods may apply. We reserve the right to withdraw any item prior to sale.

Payments for auction items are tax-deductible only as allowed by law. IRS Revenue Ruling #67-246 states that no deduction for an auction purchase price is allowed except to the extent that the taxpayer can show that payment exceeded the fair market value (as listed on the invoice) of an item received or a service rendered. Fair market values have been provided by the contributors of the auction items.
