Sew row units together to complete (1) block.

2. Make a total number of 9-patch blocks with the following print fabrics. 6 blocks: snowflake red 5 blocks: star check green, tiny snowflakes pale green, star check green grey 4 blocks: stitch star white pink, tiny snowflakes brown, 3 blocks: stitch star dark green Constructing Snowball Blocks: 1. Sew 1/4" away from and on right and left sides of drawn line. Cut along drawn line to yield (2) HST units. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of (1) HST unit. Place HST unit, right sides together, on another HST unit, with opposite fabrics facing each other. Sew 1/4" away from and on right and left sides of drawn line. Cut along drawn line to yield (2) QST units. Unit should measure 2" x 2" from raw edge to raw edge. Make a total of (4) QST units. Sew (2) 2" x 2" snowflake cream on cream squares to the opposite sides of (1) QST unit to make a row unit. Make a total of (2) row units.

Sew (2) QST units to the opposite sides of (1) 2 x 2" print square to make a row unit.

Sew row units together to make an Ohio Star unit, measuring 5" x 5" raw edge to raw edge. Sew (2) 3 1/4" x 5" snowflake cream on cream rectangles to the left and right sides of Ohio Star unit to complete Section 1. Section measure 5" x 10 " raw edge to raw edge.

2. Section 2. Sew (1) 2" x 6 " snowflake cream on cream rectangle to the left, and (1) 2" x 3 " snowflake cream on cream rectangle to the right of (1) 1 " x 2" print rectangle. Section measure 2" x 10 " raw edge to raw edge.

3. Section 3. Drawn a diagonal line on the wrong side of (1) 3 " x 3 " snowflake cream on cream square. Place square, right sides together, at a corner of (1) 3 " x 10 " print rectangle. Sew on drawn line. Trim 1/4" away from sewn line to reveal snowflake cream on cream corner triangle. Repeat with another 3 " x 3 " snowflake cream on cream square at the opposite corner of the same 3 " x 10 " print rectangle. Section measure 3 " x 10 " raw edge to raw edge.

4. Section 4. Arrange and sew together (3) 1 " x 2 " print rectangles, (2) 1 " x 2 " star check pale brown rectangles, and (2) 2" x 2 " star check pale brown rectangles.

Sew (2) 1 " x 8 " star check pale brown rectangles to the top and bottom of previously sewn unit.


Sew (2) 1 " x 3 " star check pale brown rectangles to the left and right sides of (1) 1 " x 3 " print rectangle. Add (1) 2 " x 3 " check pale brown rectangle to the bottom. Make a total of (2) window units.

Sew (1) 1 " x 2 " star check pale brown rectangle to the top of (1) 2 " x 4 " print rectangle to make door unit.

Sew (2) window units to the left and right sides of sewn door unit,

Sew together all sewn units, followed by (2) 1 " x 9 " snowflake cream on cream to the left and right sides to complete section. Section measure 10 " x 9 " raw edge to raw edge.

5. Sew together sections to complete (1) house block, measuring 10 " x 18 " raw edge to raw edge.

6. Make a total of (4) blocks for the following fabrics: snowflake charcoal, snowflake dark blue, stitch star brown, star check dark red.


Constructing Tree Blocks: 1. Stem unit. Sew (2) snowflake cream on cream "E" pieces to the opposite sides of (1) star check grey green "F" piece. Set aside. 2. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of (1) 4" x 4" snowflake cream on cream square. Place square, right sides together, on (1) 4" x 4" stitch star dark red. Sew 1/4" away from, on right and left sides of drawn line. Cut along drawn line to yield (2) HST units. Align diagonal seam of HST units against 45º line on quilting ruler, trim HST units to measure 3 " x 3 " raw edge to raw edge. Make a total of (10) stitch star dark red and (4) stitch star pale green HST units. 3. Arrange and sew together HST units, 3 " x 3 " print squares and stitch star pale green half-square-triangles into row units. Row unit 1: (3) stitch star dark red HST units, (1) stitch star pale green HST unit, and (1) 3 " x 3 " snowflake cream on cream square. Row unit 2: (3) stitch star dark red HST units, (1) stitch star pale green HST unit, and (1) 3 " x 3 " stitch star pale green square. Row unit 3: (1) stitch star dark red HST unit, (1) stitch star pale green HST unit, (1) 3 " x 3 " stitch star square, and (1) 3 " x 3 " stitch star pale green square. Sew pieces together, and add (1) stitch star pale green half-square-triangle to the left. Row unit 4: (1) stitch star dark red HST unit, (1) stitch star pale green HST unit, and (1) 3 " x 3 " stitch star dark red square. Sew pieces together, and add (1) stitch star pale green half-square-triangle to the left. Row unit 5: (2) stitch star dark red HST units. Sew pieces together, and add (1) stitch star pale green half-square-triangle to the left. Sew together row units, and add stem unit to make tree unit.

4. Sew (1) 3 " x 15 " snowflake cream on cream rectangle to the bottom of tree unit, followed by (1) 3 " x 18 " snowflake cream on cream rectangle to the left to complete (1) tree block. Block measure 18 " x 18 " raw edge to raw edge.

Make a total of (4) blocks. Quilt Center Assembly: Pieced rows: Arrange and sew together (4) snowball blocks and (4) 9-patch blocks to make a pieced row. Make a total of (8) pieced rows. Sew together pieced rows to complete quilt center.

Quilt Top Assembly: Inner border #1: Sew (2) 1 " x 36 " star check cream on cream strips to the opposite sides of quilt center, followed by (2) 1 " x 38 " star check cream on cream strips to the remaining opposite sides. Inner border #2: Sew (2) 1 " x 38 " snowflake cream on cream strips to the opposite sides of quilt center, followed by (2) 1 " x 40 " snowflake cream on cream strips to the remaining opposite sides.


Inner border #3: Arrange and sew (4) house blocks to make a column. Make (2) columns and sew to the left and right sides of quilt center. Arrange and sew (4) house blocks to make a row unit. Add (2) tree blocks to the opposite short sides of row unit to make a row. Make (2) rows and sew to the top and bottom of quilt center.

Inner border #4: Sew (2) 2" x 76 " star check green grey strips to the opposite sides of quilt center, followed by (2) 2" x 79 " star check green grey strips to the remaining opposite sides. Inner border #5: Sew (2) 1 " x 79 " star check cream on cream strips to the opposite sides of quilt center, followed by (2) 1 " x 81 " star check cream on cream strips to the remaining opposite sides. Outer border: Sew (2) 4 " x 8 " snowflake dark blue strips to the opposite sides of quilt center, followed by (2) 4 " x 89 " snowflake dark blue strips to the remaining opposite sides to complete quilt top.


Quilting Instructions: With the backing fabric laying taut, place batting and then quilt top to form quilt sandwich. Baste sandwich. Quilt as desired. Bind to finish quilt.
