SIL ICONE PRODUCTS for industr ia l usemedium vol tage BUSBAR SYSTEMS
based on experience is the future
1999 nKt a/s, denmark, merged with felten & GuilleaumeKabelwerke Gmbh in Germany to form nkt cables groupGmbH with headquarters in cologne. nkt cables group GmbHis owned by nKt holding a/s, an industrial group of companiesemploying some 8.800 people.
developing and manufacturing of house service boxes, cabledistribution cabinets and cable accessories up to 145 kV isone of the core businesses of nkt cables group GmbH. sincemore than 60 years nkt cables GmbH nordenham, Germany(formerly f&G Kabelgarnituren Gmbh) is one of the worldmarket leaders in power cable accessories.
as the first company introducing silicone rubber terminationsalready in the sixties, nkt cables GmbH, nordenham is special-ized in production of silicone rubber power cable accessories.the product range covers cable joints, cable connectors forsf6-switchgears and transformers as well as indoor- and out-door terminations.
tailored products are complementing the product spectrum,e.g. the bus bar system for interconnection of sf6-switchgears,which was established in 1993. until now more than 180.000busbars where installed from our international customers. addi-tionally a large assortment of accessories for our busbar systemis available.
in our housing department cable distribution cabinets, meteringpillars, house service boxes, street lightning cabinets and readysolutions for controlling, traffic lights and many more applica-tions were produced.

High flexibility by own building of moulds
at our work we can manufacture Grp and silicone moulds with-in shortest time according to your desires. With our processingcentres also complex forms can be provided flexibly and fast. Many years of experience and continuing education enables ourteam to realise even ambitious shapes and moulds for.
usage modern cad systems for tool design enables a visualsimulation of finally designed parts and moulds. rejections andinjections miss are avoided. short start up time of the tool is theresult. the time needed from order intake until production releaseof mould is very short an so tooling costs are relatively low.
Silicone instead of rubber
rubber is considered as cheap material; but if it concerns theelectrical and mechanical characteristics, silicone is the materialof the superlative. silicone also under direct sunlight won’t be-come inflexible or expose plasticiser. after releasing the moulds, the silicone parts will be tempered one more time. thus allvolatile silicone components interlace to a homogeneous unit.as proof: a fresh rubber product (and also from other plastics)has a „aromatic“ smell. this odour develops from evenly thesevolatile components, e.g. plasticiser. silicone products do notsmell, from the machine nor after long weathering. thus siliconeis even food safe and taste neutral.
also the other characteristics of silicone are excellent: especiallythe tear strength plays a prominent role: other materials destroythemselves with a damage by a laceration, while silicone keepsstable because its cross-linking mesh structure. silicone isweather and age-stably, uV and ozone-steadily, durably water-rejecting and not inflammable. not least silicone is halogen- andflue gas missions free.
Silicone rubber
silicone rubber is a preferred material for cable accessories dueto its excellent mechanical and electrical properties. for morethan 40 years silicone has been used successfully as high-qual-ity electrical insulation for voltages up to 400 kV. silicone rubberfeatures high quality electrical insulation, superior corona andtracking resistance, combined with high elasticity.
it facilitates multi range application, where one silicone rubberbody can be used for various conductor cross sections. optimalflexibility ensures easy assembly of the accessories. outstand-ing features of the silicone rubber insulation material are:
