Wishing everyone a Happy & Blessed Thanksgiving!
Dear Parishioners:
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe.
Even amidst the struggles of this remarkable year of 2020, we have remained
steadfast in the certainty that Christ is our King. The unspeakable gift he offers to
us through the one sacrifice of the Cross, the gift of redemption and eternal life,
gives us the great consolation, the surety, that Christ never abandons us. We need
simply invite him into our lives. We must open the door. He is ever present in our
midst in the mystery of the Eucharistic feast we call Holy Mass, and the transcend-
ent reality of our journey toward the Triune God continues in this passing life. Fear
not brothers and sisters, for God’s throne is never unoccupied and the love he has
for humanity is certain. Even so, we must not become complacent and withdraw
into ourselves. We are a community of faith, we Christians, and we are called to
love one another, without exception, so that when the day of our particular judge-
ment comes we will be among those to whom our Lord says, “Come, you who are
blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation
of the world.” (MT 25:34) Let us be especially thankful this Thanksgiving that we
belong to Jesus Christ. I am thankful for each of you.
In Christ,
Fr. Mark Thomas
