Happy Liberation Day It has been a gratifying experience to serve, an honor to represent, and a pleasure to laugh with you and get to know you this past year. I cannot express in words how humbled I am for having this opportunity. There were times when I was challenged—like jumping over hurdles across a 50 yard dash—or trying to coordinate and remain precise in my movements on a balance beam: balancing being SIM President, being a business owner, an instructor, a compliance officer, a friend, a caregiver for my elderly parents, and my favorite balancing act of all: being a wife. Through it all, I was blessed with a wonderful board, a team of women who supported me along the way and gave me the confidence to complete my dismount from that balance beam with a perfect score of 10. There were past presidents and a district director who were my torches of light and hope that never went out and never left me in the dark - and for this I am in Gratitude. Then there are the members –you- who sit before me in the bleachers cheering and rooting me on; supporting and believing. Being my cheerleaders amongst the stands as I represented SIM in the Olympic Games. Thank You DDSylvia for that theme last year and getting us started on a journey of Olympic Games. And to all of you, THANK YOU for making this truly feel like it was the Olympic event of my life ;). Thank you for a successful year of achieving goals, reaching dreams while carrying out our vision and mission because of your imagination. My theme for 2012-2013 is I-Hope … Inspiring Hope, Opportunity, and Possibilities through Extended Service. It is our shared responsibility, as individuals and as a group, to continue to make SIM as viable and strong in the community as possible. There is strength in numbers and visibility, especially when you discover your passion for service and have so much to offer. My goal this year is simple, it’s to inspire and ignite your passion so that you will bring one to two new members to a meeting and encourage one new member to join SIM and live a life of service, chair an event, or participate in a committee whether it be in Programs, Fundraising, Public Awareness, or Membership. There is nothing more satisfying than knowing and feeling that you made a difference in the life of a young girl or young woman who could have fallen victim to just one more day in a domestic violence relationship or into the entrapments of human trafficking. There are valuable social, emotional, and psychological benefits that we gain by being a Soroptimist member, whether we realize it or not. SIM connects us—connects us on a local and a national level and makes us stronger in our work, in our relationships, and brings us all together through service and feeds our soul. It means doing what we do best for young girls and women all over the world and in our own back yard. continued on next page... Happy Liberation

Day

It has been a gratifying experience to serve, an honor to represent, and a pleasure to laugh with you and get to know you this past year. Then there are the members –you-who sit before me in the bleachers cheering and rooting me on; supporting and believing.

My goal this year is simple, it’s to inspire and ignite your passion so that you will

bring one to two new members to a meeting and encourage one new member to join SIM and live a life of service, chair an event, or participate in a committee whether it be in Programs, Fundraising, Public Awareness, or Membership. There is nothing more satisfying than knowing and feeling that you made a difference in the life of a young girl or young woman who could have fallen victim to just one more day in a domestic violence relationship or into the entrapments of human trafficking. There are valuable social, emotional, and psychologicalbenefits that we gain by being a Soroptimist member, whether we realize it or not. Promise yourself to be strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

To think only the best, to work only for the best and expect only the best.To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.Author: Christian D. Larson
