Welcome!!!

Welcome to the world of SIMATIC IT. In modern plants, coordinating and synchronizing different parts of the enterprise is what determines success. The manufacturing process is distributed where it is convenient (outside the plant or even outside of the enterprise). Managing the growing complexity is therefore a key factor for successful installation. SIMATIC IT is the software environment that allows managing such complex systems. A Framework models the whole Supply Chain and then directly synchronizes and coordinates the activities of all the components defined in the model. A group of several components is dedicated to performing specific actions in order to achieve the manufacturing goals (scheduling, batch management, data manipulation and archiving and so on). Since the first release of SIMATIC IT in 1993 (original name was CUBE), development has been centered on improving the product’s core, introducing new features and new components, as well as exploiting up-and-coming, innovative technologies in step with the frenetic evolution of Information Technology. We strongly believe in continuously developing our software environment and we strongly believe that such development must include all of our customers’ requirements. For this reason, we kindly ask that you please provide any suggestions or comments you feel may aid us in improving our platform. Thank you very much, from the SIMATIC IT Marketing and Development Teams. The upcoming pages illustrate the major features that characterize SIMATIC® IT Historian 6.0 SP2, as well as the innovations and enhancements that have been added with respect to the product’s previous versions. In order to better represent the complete integration of our suite of MES products within the architecture and philosophy of the SIMATIC® family, which has had much success in the world of automation, as of October 2001, all products constituting the CUBE and CUBE Industrial Framework family have assumed the name SIMATIC® IT. This 6.0 SP2 version has been completely upgraded to be fully compliant with the new naming and versioning policy deriving from the above-mentioned change. However, we would like to remind all clients that the architecture and strategy of the product have not been modified, but have remained intact.

Before You Start

As of October 2001, all products constituting the CUBE and CUBE Industrial Framework family have assumed the name SIMATIC® IT. As a consequence of this change, new names were assigned to most of the components of the SIMATIC® IT suite. For a complete guide to installation, please refer to the appropriate Installation manual available in the “\Documentation” folder of the setup CD-Roms. For example, for Components Installation see manual “Components_InstallationManual.pdf”. To read .PDF files, the installation of Acrobat Reader is provided in the “\Acrobat_Reader” folder of the product setup CD-Rom. We recommend reading carefully the next section (“Important note”) before installing the software. For a correct use of the software, please read carefully the “Remarks for a correct use of SIMATIC® IT” topic in the online help.

Online Help

Online helps can be called up either from the Help menu of the HDD and PPA user interfaces or from the shortcut Start Programs SIMATIC IT Online Documentation SIMATIC IT Historian.

Important notes

Licenses

SIMATIC® IT Historian version 6 requires new license codes. You must ensure that you have received the new license code before upgrading an installation previous to version 6.0 with Historian 6.0 SP2.

Software Localization

User interfaces of version 6.0 SP2 are available in English, German, Italian, French, and Spanish.

Page 8: SIMATIC® IT Historian 6.0 SP2 · 2015-01-19 · RN_Historian_V6.0 SP2.doc Document Status: Template SIMATIC® IT Historian 6.0 SP2 Setup, Release Notes and Guide The following guide

Upgrading from previous versions

Please refer to the migration guide (“Historian_MigrationGuide.pdf”) included in the \Docum folder of this CD-Rom.

Upgrading from versions 3.01.05

If you are upgrading from versions 3.01.05 (including Service Packs 1 and 2), you must delete the file GPSSOCK.INI from the directory %ICUBECNF% (normally ICUBE.CNF) before installing the new version. This is necessary only if you were using the new Inter-process Communication Service (RIS) based on TCP/IP.

Log files

Due to a change in the format of the log files, if you are upgrading from versions < 4.2, the log file content is automatically deleted when the new version is run for the first time. If the current version is < 4.2 and you want to keep the current content of the log files, it is recommended that you save each log file (system log file and private log files) using the “Log File Viewer” utility, before installing version 6.0 SP2.

User applications embedding ADDX and PDDX

If you are upgrading from versions < 4.2 and you are using applications that embed the ADDX (now called AMDX) and PDDX (now called HDDX) controls, and the applications refer to these controls by means of their ProdID, you must modify the controls in order for them to be compatible with this version. This is due to the fact that the ProdID has been changed in order to reflect the new names.

Folder shares permissions

SIMATIC® IT Management Console automatically creates shares on the application folders (Plants). Starting with this version, any new share is created with limited permissions in order to limit access to users belonging to the “Authenticated Users” group. Previously created shares maintain their existing permission settings.

Windows NT 4.0 compatibility

SIMATIC® IT Historian is no longer tested on Windows NT 4.0 operating system, thus such a platform is no longer supported.

Drivers for Real-Time data sources

The only available drivers for Real-Time data sources are: OPC Client, Modbus RTU, and 3964R. Other drivers are no longer supported but can be substituted with alternative solutions based on the OPC client RTDS interface and a suitable OPC Server.

Abandoned modules

The RMS (Report Manager System) and ODL (Operator Data Logger) modules are no longer available and thus will no longer be installed or supported. However, upgrading from a previous version of Historian, the RMS and ODL module will remain available from the Management Console menu. Please refer to the Technical Support Service ([email protected]) for any questions regarding this upgrade behavior.

Arcnet support

The Inter Process Communication service no longer supports Arcnet networking.

Lean Clients

Two types of Lean Clients are defined: • “Basic Lean Client”: the classical Lean Client which contains Historian Data Display

together with the Alarm Manager Display and the GUI runtime; • “Historian Lean Client”: the new Lean Client essentially built up with Historian Data

Display. Important modifications: Both Basic Lean Client and Historian Lean Client require the installation of Basic Services as a prerequisite; CAB pages using HHD controls require the installation of Web Basic Services when used on a web client. The Automatic Update is no longer supported, although you will find all options related to this functionality from the configuration windows. The use of the feature is discouraged as the automatic update will be abandoned in the near future and currently no support is available. The HDD lean client has changed its user validation method: user rights will be validated on the default foundation server configured. On the contrary, the old HDD lean client validated user rights on the foundation server configured for the PDA to which it was connected.

OLE support for HDD

The HDDX control is no longer supported as an OLE Object.

Function Keyboard support

The Function Keyboard is no longer supported.

Installing the Software

The CD provided contains an Autorun file that allows you to automatically launch the Setup program upon inserting the CD into its Drive. In any case, you can also launch the Setup program by double-clicking on INSTI386.bat. Before installing SIMATIC® IT Historian, we recommend that you close all open applications.

Software Requirements

This software suite is fully tested on the Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4) Professional and Server, Windows 2003 and Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 1) operating systems. All Windows versions prior to that specified above are not supported. The software requirements for this version are: • Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 or Windows XP with Service Pack 1 or Windows

2003 • Protection Key software • Internet Explorer 6.0 with Service Pack 1 • MDAC 2.8 and JET 4.0 SP8 • SqlServer 2000 Standard Edition 1 with Service Pack 3(required for SIMATIC® IT

Plant Performance Analyzer)

Microsoft Security Hotfixes

The following is the list of Microsoft Security Hotfixes that have been used in SIMATIC® IT Historian system tests:

Date Description Bulletin Number Art. Number W2000-SP4 WXP-SP1 W2003

1 SIMATIC® IT Plant Performance Analyzer also supports SQL Server 2000 Personal Edition. However, Personal

Edition includes a concurrent workload governor that limits its scalability; performance degrades when more than five Transact-SQL batches are executed concurrently. Therefore, as SIMATIC® IT PPA often uses more than five batches, we suggest using Personal edition only for test/demo projects or engineering stations for which system performance is not important. For standard server stations we suggest using the Standard Edition in order to obtain the best performances. Standard edition can only be installed on server operating systems, namely Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2000 Advanced Server and Windows 2000 Datacenter Server.

Interactions with .NET applications

.NET applications are developed using one of the standard programming languages supported by the Microsoft.NET Framework and available in Microsoft the Visual Studio .NET environment (e.g. VB.NET or C#). SIMATIC IT Historian V5.1 is not developed using the .NET technology. However, .NET applications and SIMATIC IT can interact using the interoperability layer provided by the .NET Framework itself. This layer is commonly named “COM Interop”, and guarantees the communications between .NET and COM based applications. We strongly recommend to carefully design the interactions of the .NET application with the COM Interop layer, and, as a consequence, with the COM interfaces of SIMATIC IT Components. The following table lists problems and suggestions related to the use of the COM interop layer that are currently known and described in the knowledge base available at the Microsoft WEB site (http://support.microsoft.com): Article description MS ID

If you want to establish a communication between your .NET component and one of SIMATIC® IT Components via COM (for example with PM COM Interface to send events to PM) you must first ensure to use .NET framework 1.1. Further details and symptoms are described in Microsoft article 325699: “COM Interop Cannot Properly Deal with A Disconnected Stub”.

Interactions with 3rd party tools

The usage of 3rd party tools can interfere with the correct behavior of the Historian. Particular care should be dedicated to the use of:

Remote Control

Typically these tools make it possible to view and fully-interact with one computer from any other computer or mobile device anywhere on the Internet. Some of the most used tools are: • pcAnyware (distributed by Symantec) • NetMeeting (distributed by Microsoft): • On Command Remote (distributed by Symantec) • VNC - Virtual Network Computing (distributed by RealVNC): Notes:

MS SQLServer Installation

The following MS SQLServer 2000 editions are available on the MES Components SQL Server Setup CD-ROM: 1. Standard Edition

The hardware and software requirements for this version are: • Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2000 Advanced Server • Internet Explorer 5.0 (or later) • 512MB RAM minimum required, 1GB recommended

2. Personal Edition2

The hardware and software requirements for this version are: • Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2000 Advanced, Windows 2000 Professional, or

Windows XP Professional SP1 • Internet Explorer 5.0 (or later) • 256MB RAM minimum required, 512 recommended

The MS SQLServer 2000 installation is only intended for use with SIMATIC® IT Suite products. Only the default instance is installed and no other instances can be added. If MS SQLServer 2000 is intended to be used for other purposes, it must be installed from the official Microsoft CD. Installation of MS SQLServer 2000 from MES Components SQL Server Setup CD-ROM will also be successful if a previous instance of SQL Server for WinCC is configured on the system. In this case the user must not use WinCC MS SQLServer instance for Components or for PPA, but he/she must use the default instance just installed. MS SQLServer must be configured to use a mixed mode authentication, the ‘Windows authentication only’ is not supported.

Notes regarding the product’s Setup and use

Disk space required

The disk space required for installing the product is approximately 400 Mbytes (including Plant Performance Analyzer). It should be pointed out that development stations require additional disk space for applications in relation to the configuration of historical archives, alarms, etc. (For the precise calculation of space, refer to the relevant manual). Depending on how extensive the application is, it may occupy as little as a few dozen to hundreds of megabytes (Mb).

2 SIMATIC® IT Plant Performance Analyzer also supports SQL Server 2000 Personal Edition.

For standard server stations we suggest using the Standard Edition in order to obtain the best performance. Standard edition can only be installed on server operating systems, namely Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2000 Advanced Server, and Windows 2000 Datacenter Server.

Windows 2000 configuration

To optimize the use of SIMATIC® IT with Windows 2000, we recommend checking that option “Applications”, rather than ”Background Service”, has been selected in the Windows 2000 “Performance Options configuration (Control Panel Advanced Performance Options).

Using dynamic Screen Saver

We recommend that dynamic Screen Savers not be used, as the resulting CPU occupation may reach 100% of Processor Time.

Optimizing performances

In order to enhance alarm-display (AMD) and historical data display (HDD) clients’ performances using TCP/IP protocol, a dedicated tool (TCPTune.exe) is available. This tool can be found in the installation directory (normally \ICUBESYS.BIN). In particular, using this tool it is possible to operate on the appropriate configuration parameters of the TCP/IP protocol, in order to obtain the following performance enhancements: • Fast re-connection to the server when a switch between servers configured in backup

takes place • Fast detection of server connection failure in the case of server anomaly. For more information on how to adjust these parameters, we recommend that you please contact our Technical Support Service ([email protected]).

Backup configurations

In the backup configuration (Management Console Configuration System Modules backup Advanced...), you may no longer select the automatic switchover of the plant on primary Master. Therefore, should the plant be master on the auxiliary server following the close of the primary server, even if this server is started up, the plant remains Master on the auxiliary server. This function is retroactive: as a result, the function is disabled even if the installation is performed on a computer that was already installed with a version < 4.2 configured for automatic switchover.

PDA server PC configuration

It is strongly suggested to enable DMA (Direct Memory Access), from the hardware setup utility of the PC where PDA is running. This optimizes disk usage thus improving PDA performances.

PPA server use

The main goal of PPA server is to store production and aggregated data. PPA is not a process archive and then such a use is discouraged.

ActiveX Message Viewer memory requirements

The memory used by this component is directly related to the configured value for the maximum number of messages cached (the default value is 5000 messages). The user must be aware that incrementing the cache size will require more memory and can degrade the performance of the system. It is not possible to calculate the required memory for custom messages as they contain variable length fields while batch messages have a fixed memory occupation of 10K-bytes.

ActiveX Production Viewer memory requirements

The memory used by this component is directly related to the quantity of data displayed. In the case of dynamic update it is strongly recommended to use a filter on the query to limit data displayed and avoid high memory consumption.

Excel Add-in project name

The name of the project for Excel Add-in was renamed from “VBAProject “to “HistorianAddIn”. This does not introduce any incompatibility into existing user projects. However, if the reference to the old project is eliminated and substituted with a new one, the name of the old object must be changed to the new name. For example VBAProject.Function(....) must be modified into HistorianAddIn.Function(...).

What’s New in SIMATIC® IT Historian 6.0

This section contains the main modifications, improvements, and performance enhancements introduced with SIMATIC® IT Historian 6.0.

SIMATIC® IT Plant Performance Analyzer

Integration with SIMATIC® BATCH 4 and with SIMATIC® PCS 7

The following are the major reasons that the integration of SIMATIC® BATCH is provided: • Archiving purposes • Reporting • KPI calculations • MES integration Because of this integration, SIMATIC® Historian is now extended with Electronic Batch Recording capabilities. In this way, SIMATIC® BATCH is provided with a functionality that in normal applications might have required an extended development of custom functions or the use of reusable solutions. In this way, SIMATIC® IT Historian provides an off-the-shelf product with this type of functionality, reducing the amount of development time and improving the A&D AS and increasing the range of A&D AS products offered. The integration of SIMATIC® BATCH is done in particular with one component of SIMATIC® IT Historian: Plant Performance Analyzer (PPA). A list of the major functions is as follows: • Import of SIMATIC® BATCH equipment model (S88) into PPA • Storage of Batch stepping sequence • Storage of control recipe header information • Storage of Batch-related measures • Storage of Batch-related messages

Batch reporting based on SIMATIC® IT Report Manager

Batch data is stored in PPA, in order to allow easy reporting

Historian universe supports all Batch-related data

Production viewer

The Production viewer provides the overall Batch list (running batches and history). It is integrated with the Query Tool, to retrieve batches that match a user-defined criteria. It is also integrated with other viewers. For example, it can automatically populate trends.

Integration with WinCC Alarm Logging

SIMATIC® IT PPA has a direct interface to the WinCC Alarm Logging system, which allows the user to extract messages that match a certain filter criteria from the archive and to receive online notifications of new messages and store them in the PPA database. A new viewer will allow the user to display alarms and events (messages) stored in PPA. This viewer will also support filtering and sorting capabilities.

Integration with WinCC Tag Logging

SIMATIC® IT PPA allows the user to extract historical data from the WinCC tag archive. WinCC Tag Logging is a new data source supported by PPA. WinCC archive data can be used as input data for any PPA pre-defined aggregation function, or for PPA calculation scripts. Retrieval of batch-related measures is automatically performed by PPA, when used with SIMATIC® BATCH. The data is extracted only during the relevant Batch or recipe element. PPA automatically builds a relationship between the extracted data and the relevant Batch Id, and the recipe element.

Important configuration notes for integration with SIMATIC® BATCH

In order to be able to correctly extract WinCC Tag Logging data, the symbolic computer name, defined in the package on the WinCC project server, must match the OS Project Name. You can check this configuration with these simple steps: 1. Open the SIMATIC® Manager; 2. Switch to the “Component View”; 3. Select the OS-Project and open its properties by using the context menu; 4. On the “Target OS and stand-by OS Computer” tab verify that the “Symbolic Computer

Name” matches the OS Project name. If the setting is incorrect, follow these steps to change the package name: 1. From the “Component View” of the SIMATIC® Manager, select the OS Project and

open it (using the context menu): the WinCC Project Explorer is displayed; 2. From the tree on the left pane, select the “Server Data” node: the package is displayed

on the right pane; 3. Select the package on the right pane and delete it by using the context menu. Confirm

the deletion by selecting ‘Yes’ in the confirmation window; 4. Create a new package. Be sure to use the same name for “Symbolic Computer Name” as

is used for the OS Project; 5. Close the WinCC Project explorer; 6. Delete all ‘.dcf‘ files that you find in the following path (please use your current settings

for Base_Project_Path and OSProjectName): <Base_Project_Path>\winccproj\<OSProjectName>

Important configuration notes for integration with SIMATIC® BATCH and SIMATIC® IT Production Modeler

In order to enable the management of Batch KPIs in PPA, the plant hierarchy must be imported to PPA from Production Modeler and merged with the SIMATIC® BATCH equipment model (S88). In order to facilitate this integration, it is suggested that the user use the same names for the corresponding process cell and units in Production Modeler and SIMATIC® BATCH and carefully follow the instructions given in Production Modeler Online Help and Release Notes. The user must also enable the PPA project, by selecting both the SIMATIC® BATCH Integration and the Production Modeler Integration options in the Set project type command. • Due to a limitation of BPM plant model import feature, it is strongly recommended that

the user create a new PPA configuration version from scratch when the ProjectType is changed from SIMATIC® BATCH only or Production Modeler only to the SIMATIC® BATCH and Production Modeler integrated scenario.

Functions not provided by SIMATIC® IT Historian Version 6.0

SIMATIC® IT Historian version 6.0 has been provided with the first level of integration with SIMATIC® BATCH. The following is a list of the functions that are incomplete or not supported: • Master Recipe and Formula protocol

Master Recipes and Formulas are not stored in SIMATIC® IT Historian and cannot be included in Report Manager reporting.

• Library Protocol SIMATIC® IT Historian does not manage libraries. Managing libraries is a way of providing groups of RPE to be used in the Recipes.

• Control Recipe SIMATIC® IT Historian only partially stores the Control Recipe and in particular only the Recipe Header.

• Audit Trail and Electronic Signature

Page 27: SIMATIC® IT Historian 6.0 SP2 · 2015-01-19 · RN_Historian_V6.0 SP2.doc Document Status: Template SIMATIC® IT Historian 6.0 SP2 Setup, Release Notes and Guide The following guide

SIMATIC® BATCH has an internal Audit Trail and Electronic Signature function. This information is not extracted from SIMATIC® BATCH and therefore is not stored in the PPA database.

• Comments SIMATIC® BATCH facilitates commenting batch objects until they are closed. Once a batch has been closed it is possible to comment it in Plant Performance Analyzer. Comments introduced in SIMATIC® BATCH are not imported into PPA.

• Neutral Folder A plant structure as defined in Production Modeler is replicated in PPA, which automatically imports it from the BPM. However, the import of a ‘Neutral folder’ as defined in SIMATIC® BATCH is not yet available. This means that if Neutral folders are defined in SIMATIC® BATCH, the PCell structure will be not aligned to the one reported by PPA.

• Multiple PCell Scenarios with multiple PCells are not supported.

• Windows XP compatibility This version of SIMATIC® IT Historian does not support integration with PCS7 on Windows XP systems due to the incompatibility of PCS7 Tag Browser and IVAR2 driver.

• Flat Recipes If substructures are used for grouping recipe phases of flat recipes in SIMATIC® BATCH, SIMATIC® IT Historian PPA will not include substructures data.

Write access and manual entry support

SIMATIC® IT Historian provides support to write data in the SIMATIC® IT PPA database programmatically. This functionality allows the user to insert data from standard office tools (i.e. Excel) or from an external application. Write access is supported through the following mechanisms: • Via the PPA COM interface • Via the Historian Data Display tool • Via the Historian Excel Add-in Each write operation generates an audit trail record and can also require an Electronic Signature (see “Compliance Services” paragraph).

Compliance Services

A new functionality has been developed to support Audit Trail and Electronic Signatures, according to 21 CFR Part 11. This function is based on the new Compliance Services, implemented in SIMATIC® IT. SIMATIC® IT Historian (and in particular PPA) is the first component that uses the new Compliance Services. Users can enable the Audit Trail and, optionally, Electronic Signature scenarios for any PPA tag (except “read-only” tags).

Audit Trail Display

The Historian Data Display client tool allows the user to display any Audit Trail information associated with a tag value. A value with an associated Audit Trail can be properly highlighted in the trend charts.

Electronic Signature

PPA allows the user to select, for each writable and AT-enabled tag, a specific Electronic Signature scenario (previously configured through the Compliance Services configuration tool), which will be automatically activated each time a user performs a change action on a tag value.

Support of new SIMATIC® IT Report Manager

SIMATIC® IT Historian will have a dedicated universe in the first release of SIMATIC® IT Report Manager. The universe has been developed for PPA. The universe has been defined to provide: • Standard Tag oriented reports (process oriented) • Production Oriented reports (according to the integration with Production Suite) • Batch Reports

Improvements of Production Modeler integration

The integration with Production Modeler has been expanded. PPA now allows the user to schedule KPIs not only associated with a Production Operation but also associated with Segments of it, facilitating a better coordination and synchronization of the KPIs calculation with the real production events. From the users point of view no particular changes are provided, as the KPIs in the PPA are defined as in previous versions. Production Modeler is now able to associate a multi-level key with the KPI so that a relationship between the Production Operation and the Segment is maintained. This is especially useful for analytical purposes.

Long Term project concept extension

The long-term archive concept is now extended. As in version 5.0 there is a certain amount number (configurable) of online databases (where PPA writes) and a certain number of offline databases. The offline databases are online databases that are automatically detached and copied in a dedicated folder (configurable) by PPA. These offline database are no longer accessed by PPA but can still be accessed by HDD, Excel Add-In, and COM interface. The new feature of Historian 6.0 is that these offline archives can now be managed as export packages to be copied on durable media. They can then be restored as an offline archive for data analysis. The export package also includes configuration data, so they can be restored on a machine that is not where the files originated. The export package also includes, if selected, all the Compliance Services actions (Audit Trail and Electronic Signatures). All the required actions are performed through the PPA Administrator; no knowledge of database management is required.

New OPC-HDA data source

A new OPC-HDA data source allows the user to retrieve historical data from any Historian process that provides an OPC-HDA server. Historical data retrieved with this interface can be stored in the database as it is, or can be used as input for PPA pre-defined aggregation functions or PPA script calculation functions. In order to use an OPC-HDA data source connected to a remote server, it is necessary to enable DCOM communication on both local and remote machine, as well as to suitably configure access rights by means of the DCOMCNFG tool.

Configuration from Excel

The configuration import tool, which allows the user to import the PPA configuration from an excel worksheet, has been redesigned. A new workbook layout allows for an easier definition of tags, without the need to explicitly define acquisition classes. Insert, update, and delete (on a per-tag basis) are now supported. Classes and source points are automatically created, if needed, during the import operation. PPA configuration can also be exported to an Excel workbook.

RDB data source enhancements

The RDB data source has been enhanced, allowing the user to retrieve data from a generic relational database by applying a free SQL SELECT statement. The previous RDB data source configuration is still available, for simple retrieval cases.

Script function library import/export

Import/Export of script libraries is now supported. A script library can be exported from a PPA project and imported into another PPA project. Please note that script functions have a project-scope (not a library scope). Therefore, name conflicts may occur when importing a library. In such a case, the import tool allows users to select an appropriate action: • Overwrite the previous script (and keep the new one) • Abort the import operation The tool also checks consistency with existing tags, which already use imported functions.

SIMATIC® IT Historian Data Display

New Production Viewer control

The HDD component has evolved according to the new functions of SIMATIC® IT Historian. Along with the previous displays, such as, the Standard trend, the Time Overlay trend, and the bargraph, there is a new component for displaying production/batch-oriented data. This component is called Production Viewer.

The Production Viewer can display any production data stored in PPA as a Production Key. In particular: • It can display all Production Operations traced in PPA and their Production Steps, as

well as their associated Key Performance Indicators (except for trend KPIs, which can be displayed in the HDD Standard Trend control);

• It can display all Batches traced in PPA and their corresponding Batch stepping sequence, as well as all recipe element parameters, Batch-related measures, and Batch-related messages;

• It can display any custom Production Key traced in PPA. Queries may be applied to select a limited number of items (Production Operations, Batches, etc.) that satisfy particular search criteria. Comments can be inserted for any item (Production Operation, Production step, Batch, recipe element) displayed in the production viewer. The Production Viewer, like all the other HDD controls, is an ActiveX control that can be embedded in any standard container. When the control is used from within HDD, it is possible to create a corresponding Trend or Bargraph containing data visualized by Production Viewer.

New Message Viewer control

This new control allows the user to display all WinCC messages collected and stored in the PPA database. This viewer is integrated with the Query Tool in order to filter messages, by applying any number of criteria on the message attributes. Comments can be inserted for any message displayed in the message viewer. The Message Viewer, like all the other HDD controls, is an ActiveX control that can be embedded in any standard container.

Standard Trend Viewer control enhancements

The following enhancements have been added to the Standard Trend Viewer: • By positioning the mouse on a sample marker, a ToolTip with detailed information

about the sample is displayed • By right-clicking a sample marker, a shortcut menu is opened, which allows the user to

perform actions on the sample, such as: • Modifying the sample • Deleting the sample • Auditing the sample • Inserting a comment in a sample

• Modifying samples is also enabled from the table view • The legend has been enhanced in order to provide higher level of customization and

additional information when displaying contextualized information by means of the Query Tool

• It is possible to display all audit trail and comment information about a sample within the time-span of the chart, by right clicking the item in the legend

• Special markers can be displayed, which identify samples with associated audit trail or comments

It is now possible to create multi-source charts (i.e. display items from PPA and PDA in the same chart) and multi-server charts (i.e. display items from multiple PDA servers in the same chart). To use such feature user must manually start the PDA_Alias_Config available in the installation path and enable the multi-server option. When multi-server feature is enabled, the PDA server computer names are saved into the workspaces. If computer name of any PDA server changes, user must use the PDA_Alias_Config tool to compile a list containing the old server name and the new one.

Bargraph Viewer control enhancements

The following enhancements have been added to the Bargraph Viewer: • By positioning the mouse on a bar, a ToolTip with detailed information about the

sample is displayed • By right-clicking a bar, a shortcut menu is opened, which allows performing some

actions on the sample, such as: • Modifying the value of the non-aggregated series • Deleting the value of the non-aggregated series

• The legend has been enhanced in order to provide higher level of customization and additional information when displaying contextualized information by means of the Query Tool

It is now possible to create multi-source charts (i.e. display items from PPA and PDA in the same chart) and multi-server charts (i.e. display items from multiple PDA servers in the same chart).

SIMATIC® IT Historian Excel Add-in

The following enhancements have been introduced in the Excel Add-In: • Manual data entry support

It is possible to perform data entry operations (manual insert for PPA tags of type EXTERNAL_INPUT ) from an Excel worksheet. Data entry areas can be defined in the worksheet. Integration with Compliance Services provides Audit Trail and Electronic Signature support.

• Integration with the Query Tool allows the user to retrieve data by Production Operations or by any custom production key defined in PPA.

• Equipment view is supported when browsing tags • PPA snapshots are now supported • Retrieval of data from PPA and PDA off-line databases is now supported

Important notes for SIMATIC® IT Historian Excel Add-In

Automatic load from Excel

If Excel Add-In is not loaded automatically please check the following settings: from the menu Tools Macro Security verify that the ‘Security Level’ is high; if it is, enable the ‘Trust all installed add-ins and templates’ option present in the ‘Trusted Sources’ tab.

Updating automatic links

Excel worksheets using SIMATIC® IT Historian Excel Add-In need the update of automatic links in the following circumstances: • Upgrade of a worksheet based on Excel Add-In version 4.3 • Movement of the worksheet to a disk different from the one where Excel Add-In is

installed. To perform the update the user must use the macro “ChangeSource” included in the Add-In. Please refer to online help for a detailed description of the procedure.

Internal methods

Some internal features available with version 4.3 have been changed/removed. No documentation of those methods was presented because they were available only for internal usage. Please refer to the online help for the up-to-date list of the methods currently available.

Remarks for the Correct Use of SIMATIC® IT Plant Performance Analyzer

• The Plant Performance Analyzer makes use of the Event Manager module for scheduling purposes. This means that to work correctly, Plant Performance Analyzer needs the Event Manager to be up and running. You can manually run the EM before starting the Plant Performance Analyzer engine or before adding the EM to the SIMATIC® IT Historian startup.

• The Plant Performance Analyzer does not schedule any database backup: therefore you must backup the SQLServer database. Please refer to the MS SQL Server BooksOnLine documentation for instructions.

• The default SQLServer management of virtual memory is used. Please refer to the MS SQL Server BooksOnLine for documentation.

• When retrieving historical data from an external relational database, no automatic conversion of the quality code is supplied; you are expected to use only OPC compliant quality codes as input.

• The Plant Performance Analyzer engine is not yet available in a redundant (hot backup) configuration: in case of a system failure, a recovery mechanism is supplied for data retrieved from historical data sources (such as PDA, WinCC TLS, etc) but data loss may occur for real time data coming from RTDS.

• Online updates of PPA configuration are only supported for changes to the SIMATIC® BATCH PCell for the automatic data collection of batch-related process values from the WinCC Tag Logging System. • Engineering data can be imported from an Excel file (by means of the “Import

Configuration” command in the PPA Administrative Tool). In order to avoid any data loss, it can be necessary to configure a suitable acquisition delay parameter for the Plant Performance Analyzer classes, when retrieving data from an historical data source.

KPI Management

Important notes on integration with SIMATIC® IT Production Modeler

Performing a download object operation with the clean option on SIMATIC® IT Production Modeler, the link between KPI imported from PM and PPA tags will be lost and must be manually re-engineered. Therefore it is strongly recommended not to use such clean option with the download object operation on the PM.

Fixed Technical Issues

Upon releasing this version 6.0 SP2, the following known issues have been fixed:

Plant Performance Analyzer

• Due to a limitation of the tag name length in the PPA database, the full name of process values engineered in SIMATIC® BATCH as tag collections could not be displayed and all characters exceeding 64 were cut off.

• PPA didn’t manage a shutdown of SIMATIC Batch properly and was not able to continue storing the EBR data after the SIMATIC Batch restart.

Historian Data Display

• When logging on with a low-level user profile (possessing the resource “Modify configurations without saving”), any activation of the "Always on Top" function in HDD windows is disregarded.

• Production Viewer didn't show a NOP present in a hierarchical recipe at ROP level (directly in a RUP, not in a ROP).

Known Technical Issues

When version 6.0 SP2 was released, we were aware of the following critical and minor bugs, but they were not yet fixed. For each bug, a workaround is suggested when possible.

General Issues

The tests conducted up to the release of this version primarily concerned Intranet or Internet configurations without the use of a Proxy/Firewall. Using these corporate-network protection systems could result in cases of abnormal behavior.

Services and Management Console

Following a log-off from the plant, the message “Abnormal Termination” of the Session Manager Server is displayed in the log file of the Management Console. In reality, this message must be disregarded, as it contains erroneous information.

Database Management

• If some variables not defined in the database are detected while compiling an ITER, Ladder, or Block Diagram source file, you can automatically insert them in the database. However, keep in mind that the variables are considered as scalar and permanent-memory in type by default. Also, whereas in the case of Ladder and Block Diagram, the type (integer, real, logic or character) is set correctly depending on the context in which the variable is used, this is not always the case for ITER.

• If you select a database and perform a Save as CSV, the acquisition data is also imported. To delete this information, you must do so manually.

Plant Performance Analyzer

• Plant Performance Analyzer does not support data recovery on SQL access error due to disconnection for the following data sources: PPA, RTDS and VBScript (Custom).

• PPA doesn’t manage the OPCHDA Server error: "More data".

Historian Data Display

• If modifications are made to a point’s maximum and minimum values, it is necessary to “reload” workspaces in order to properly display them.

• When specifying a filter, it is recommended to leave the Equipment field empty within the Production Viewer Configuration Wizard.

Historian Basic Lean Client

• If you perform a logoff while connections to Lean Clients are still active, the dialog boxes containing the relative messages are displayed correctly. If you also attempt to disconnect from the Lean Client side, the system may need a few seconds before disconnecting.

• If the GUI Run-time component is activated, the new hotkey combination Ctrl+Q for

enabling/disabling the title bar and the menu bar is managed only if the GUI Run-time component loses focus, whereas the right click to call up the pop-up menu is managed correctly.

• Closing Fat Clients when Lean Clients are connected and active may result in inconsistent behavior on both the Fat Client and the Lean Client.

Alarm Server

Each active Alarm Server must have at least a configured point. If no points are configured the Alarm Server must not be activated otherwise some problems can arise.

Important notes of BPM 4.3. SP3

• In SIMATIC® IT Production Modeler, the sub UNITs of a PCell linked to a SIMATIC® BATCH PCell (through the SIMATIC® IT COM Interface for SIMATIC® Batch) can also be linked with the UNITs in SIMATIC® BATCH. This link is performed through the attribute “SB-UNIT-NAME”. To modify the link to another SIMATIC® BATCH UNIT, it is strongly recommended to perform these steps: Clean the attribute by removing the link; Save the Production Modeler Plant also in Business Process Modeler Database; Import the Plant Model in Plant Performance Analyzer; Define the new value for the SB-UNIT-NAME attribute and perform 2) and 3) again;

• It' s not recommended to transfer any equipment present under any PCell level to another parent equipment. It is better to remove it/them and then re-insert it/them

New Functions and Operational Features of BPM 4.3 SP3

• Source Codes Protection in Production Modeler • Enhancement in XML structure management in Production Modeler

Functions and Operational Features available in previous versions

This section provides a list of the main functionalities introduced in BPM 4.3, BPM 4.3 SP1 and BPM 4.3 SP2 with respect to BPM 4.2.

• Controlled Shutdown • Integration with PPA for SIMATIC® BATCH and import of SIMATIC® BATCH

plant model • BPM Config instantiated directly by PM

Known Technical Issues of BPM 4.3 SP3

At the time when BPM version was released, no severe and minor technical issues were known and not yet fixed.

Known Technical Issues of BPM 4.3 SP2 HF2

At the time when BPM version was released, the following severe and minor technical issues were known and not yet fixed. • The BPM and BPM Ini files have to be modified manually. Only the Password needs to

be changed by means of the tool available in the Server dialog window. Please follow

© Siemens AG 2004 All Rights Reserved. For Internal Use Only

Page 38: SIMATIC® IT Historian 6.0 SP2 · 2015-01-19 · RN_Historian_V6.0 SP2.doc Document Status: Template SIMATIC® IT Historian 6.0 SP2 Setup, Release Notes and Guide The following guide

the instruction in the Ini files themselves or read the appropriate section in the Components Installation Manual, available in the \Documentation folder of the setup CD-ROM

• MS Office is not required as a prerequisite for BPM Display, however if you decide to

install it you are required to install SP2 as well. In the case where SP2 is not installed launching BPM Display will automatically call the MS Windows MS Office 2000 Installation screen to appear and you will be asked to install certain components included in SP2.

• PM manages unlimited lengths for its string fields, on the contrary BPM has limitations

for the related database fields. For instance: • Equipment full name length: 255 • POs name length: 300 • Properties/Parameters name length: 255

• BPM supports only the default name of the Production Operation Rules of Rules (INITIALIZE, EXECUTION, END). If you rename them, BPM cannot work properly.

• BPM builds the hierarchy of the Production Operations through the configuration of the

Start-Product steps in SIMATIC® IT Production Modeler. If you want to create the hierarchy among POs, you should take care to browse only the instances of the production operations.

• If you don’t succeed in obtaining a hierarchy among POs in SIMATIC® IT Production

Order Manager, download again the root PO (download-objects starting from the root PO). It depends on the order of the child POs download in the database.

• You have to make permanent the elements (equipment and production operations)

exported in other SIMATIC® IT Components or in the SIMATIC® IT Historian, saving, in SIMATIC® IT Production Modeler, the Plant (or the Library) where these elements are present. Otherwise you could refer to some temporary objects that can be deleted from the database.

• Using BPMC and performing a material configuration on a step, if some raw or

intermediate material definitions are equal to the final material of the PO/Rule which the step belongs to, these materials are hidden and cannot be selected as input or output materials for that step.

• The method SetEquipProperty updates the default value of a persistent property.

Currently the supported G2 types for the persistent properties are the following: • SYMBOL • TEXT • INTEGER • QUANTITY • TRUTH-VALUE • FLOAT

• If you restore a database backup made on a different SQL Server, remember to change

the database owner executing the following system stored procedure (changing the login name according the right settings): EXEC sp_changedbowner @loginame=’SITMesUsr’, @map=true

• Since version 4.3 Pilot, BPM stored procedures are encrypted. If you try to import data

from a database version 4.3 Pilot, 4.3, 4.3 SP1 or 4.3 SP2 (also HF1 and HF2) those stored procedure are not transferred. You need to restore those stored procedures launching BPM server, stopping the database connection and choosing the button “Restore encrypted stored procedures”.

• If BPM server starts and doesn’t succeed in connecting to the database, a possible

reason may be a wrong database upgrade started in a previous session. You can check if there is a correct version string (in this version 4.3 SP2 HF2) in field db_core_version of table MCOCORe_VERSION. In the latter case, you can run the SITDBUtil tool to update the database

Fixed Technical Issues

Upon releasing this version 4.3 SP3, the following problems have been fixed: • During the same configuration session in SIMATIC® IT Production Modeler, if you

insert a new object and then remove it without saving the PM module (Library or Plant), the object remains by mistake in the database as a permanent element.

• If the server and the configurator(s) are on remote machines, the DCOM configuration

has to be manually set • In case BPM is used in conjunction with the PPA Component, when BPM is stopped

(command Exit from the taskbar menu) but PPA is still running, the BPM process does not close and remains active, as PPA keeps the connection alive

• Every time you move an equipment having KPIs from a position to another one, the

KPIs lose any already present association to tags in SIMATIC IT Plant Performance Analyzer.

• When you are working in a mixed scenario with SIMATIC IT Production Modeler and

SIMATIC Batch, if you import the plant model in SIMATIC IT Plant Performance Analyzer without the link between a PM PCell and a SB PCell and only in a second time you link the two PCells, you can obtain a resulting Plant Model in PPA with the SB PCell present two times: one as a root equipment and one inside the PM hierarchy.

PCS 7 Tag Browser is now supported in all SIMATIC® IT standard languages.

Different configurable strategies for name import

The names of imported PCS 7 Tags, including hierarchy path, have to be uniquely mapped into a 32-character field of the flat list in the SIMATIC® IT Data Dictionary. In order to have variable names that are unique but at the same time mnemonic, without having to type a variable name manually for every variable, PCS 7 Tag Browser offers different name mapping strategies that can automatically generate unique mnemonic names.

"Limit folder name length" strategy

A complete tag name in PCS 7 is a path in the component or plant hierarchy. The idea of this name mapping strategy is to limit the number of characters used for every hierarchy layer.

Import of entire subtrees

Selecting a node in the PCS 7 tag hierarchy, you can import the whole subtree below that node.

Configurable user interaction level

The user can choose if the default DD variable name (the output of the strategy) has to be

• always confirmed by the user • confirmed (edited) by the user only if it exceeds 32 characters

PCS 7 Tag Browser Window size is now configurable

The size of the main window is now variable, allowing the user to use the whole screen size.

Preview for tag import

In the current version, PCS 7 Tag Browser checks the consistency before actually doing the import, and displays a detailed problem report. In this way inconsistent operations can be avoided.

Mapped Network Drives support for PCS 7 projects file selection

It is now possible to open a PCS 7 project from a mapped network drive.

Known technical issues

In the CCINSInfoBrowser ocx, clicking on the "Symbolic Name", "Status" or "Unit" column headers, listed tags are sorted by tag name.

New Functions and Operational Features of Services 4.4 SP2

Communication Protocol

In this version it has been introduced a new functionality of SIMATIC® IT communication services. It provides a channel based on HTTP or HTTPS protocol for connection and communication to standard IPC based server. This channel supports the Internet proxy usage (this release supports ISAServer proxy without user validation and whose client side doesn’t use “Use Automatic Configuration Script”). In order to configure a machine that accesses Internet by proxy, see “Special Configurations” paragraph.

Compliance Services

By using MSM services, it has been added the possibility to send an Electronic Signature Form to a client machine as well as to a specific user.

Known Technical Issues

• User Change on Citrix Due to a particular Hotkey management on Citrix Client, it is necessary to follow the below instructions in order to change the user: • Publish the RACHK.EXE application (in %ICUBEPATH%BIN) to client • Execute such application on client side • When a user change is necessary, set the focus on another application running in

CITRIX mode and then click Shift+Esc: at this point it is possible to insert login and password of the new user.

• User Change on Terminal Server client (Remote Desktop Connection)

The first time you connect to the machine with TS support, customize Desktop as described in the following: Create a shortcut of RACHK.EXE process on desktop. When you connect on, creating a session, run the program clicking on shortcut. When it is necessary to change the user click Shift+Esc and introduce the new user name and the relative password.

• Cab Protocol Configurator

It is not possible, by clicking the Help Button, to visualize the relative file. Refer to services’ help. In this version no check on syntactic correctness of entries, inserted in protocol configuration fields is done. In particular in field “WEB SEVER IP” you must insert the server IP address containing SITISAPI EXTENSION.

• The Priority Boost option of SQL Server can interfere with smooth server operations, as

it degrades the performance of other applications in the system leading to undesired and unexpected side effects whose cause (namely boosting priority of SQL Server) can be hardly found. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you do not modify its default value (i.e. 0 - Not Enabled). The priority boost should be used only on a computer dedicated to SQL Server, and with a symmetric multiprocessor (SMP) configuration. You have to pay attention because boosting the priority too high may drain resources from essential operating system and network functions, resulting in problems shutting down SQL Server or using other Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000 tasks on the server.

• IPC Services uses by default port 3002 for TCP transmission. If you are accessing the

network through a firewall, your firewall administrator will need to authorize this port or change, by IPC Configuration wizard, Ris port number in accordance with opened port on firewall. If you change the default please verify that all workstation in SIMATIC® It configuration have the same port number configured.

• Services 4.4 Sp1 are not compatible with previous installation of the complete

Management Console included in the Historian setup until version 5.0, to upgrade this version is necessary to install the new Historian version 6.0

• The Lock Object Server is not integrated in the Management Console to use this server

it is necessary to load the file LockObject.adn contained inside the %ICUBECNF% from the MMC > System Configuration as Third Part application.

Compliance Service

The format the Database of Audit Trails is changed: the old Databases are no more usable. About secure store management, the reference between the ER and the AT is performed in a more strong way using the “ObjectID” field of the AT managed with specific functions. If no secure store is required this field can be managed by the application. In this case the ‘#’ character is no allowed in the “ObjectID” field. In the AT Repository only the records with GMPRelevant=1 are valid Audit & Trail.

Fixed Technical Issues

Upon releasing this version 4.4, the following issues are fixed: • Crash of DBSERVER on exit:

Performing “Exit to Operating System” from Management Console DBSERVER now close correctly even if RTDS interfaces have not yet finished to load the data.

• Log file viewer shows only 255 characters in the message column. Now messages are displayed correctly (1024 characters).

Special configurations

• MSM Display Client on Http environmental If you force a particular client to use the HTTP or HTTPS protocol for the communication, by using contexts (See CAB Protocol Configurator documentation), Messaging Manager Display Client could more slowly visualize the messages is receives. In order to rise, in this environment, the message download rate of MSM client side, it is necessary to set this configuration:

By Regedit, create the following entry in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SIEMENS-ORSI Automation S.p.A.\Simatic IT\Messanger\Parameters\

Set the value: PollingRefresh=3000

• Proxy Configuration

The communication channel via Http uses Microsoft® Windows® HTTP Services (WinHTTP)

CAB Runtime Server Security Configuration

Both SIMATIC® IT Client Application Builder POM and MM Data Providers require some extra security configuration. MM and POM Components Server have to grant access and launch to the APSNET user using Microsoft dcomcnfg or oleview utilities.

Use a different CAB Server machine

During installation you are prompted for inserting the CAB Server machine name. If you want to change it after setup, you will have to do it manually. To do this proceed as following: 1. Open with Notepad the file CABServerConfig.cfg contained in the O.S. system32

directory (i.e. C:\Winnt\System32) 2. Put the name of the server between the opening and closing Server tag (i.e. <Server>

MyServer </Server>).

Regional settings mismatch

If your server machine has regional settings that don’t match with the culture used by ASP.NET during runtime, you can face errors loading date/time or other culture dependant data types (e.g. “System.FormatException: String was not recognized as a valid DateTime”). In order to fix these problems, you have some possibilities. 1. To set regional options on you server machine to match culture in ASP.NET.

• You can do that through “Control Panel”. To set your ASP.NET culture information to match regional options on you server machine.

• You can do that by modifying the “globalization” section in file machine.config (usually %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\CONFIG\ machine.config): this will be the default value on every web application (see the *.config hierarchy on MSDN).

• You can do that by modifying the “globalization” section of file web.config (on your application folder): this will be the default value on every page of your web application.

Sample: <globalization requestEncoding="utf-8" responseEncoding="utf-8" culture="en-GB" />

To set the right culture on your code just before the method call and resetting it just after (recommended in multilingual applications). Sample: System.Globalization.CultureInfo savedCulture = System.Threading.Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture; System.Threading.Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture = new System.Globalization.CultureInfo("en-US"); mmDataProvider1.Fill(); System.Threading.Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture = savedCulture;
