Simon Frederick is a photographer, an artist and a creator of contemporary images. Simon began as a music photographer working for MTV, the BBC and many of the major record labels. He has worked with the worlds largest picture agency Getty Images, In a career spanning 10 years which has seen his work appear in magazines and newspapers the world over.

Based in Lisbon during an 8 years period, His work has been responsible for the Portuguese political party CDS-PP gaining their best election result in 35 years, this work being described as, “Changing the face of political photography in Portugal”, by the influential Expresso Newspaper.

He has shot campaigns for IKEA, McDonald & Volvo to name a few.

Simon has worked with company’s in all sectors of business using the ‘Semiotics’ of imagery to create goodwill, inspire, influence and communicate a story un- confined by words. Using imagery to build campaigns that use photography in a strategic way to build awareness & loyalty.

Simon Frederick is a former England international Athlete (400m Hurdles), He worked for Time Out, Elle & The BBC and as a brand marketer worked on campaigns for Caterpillar Workwear, Levi’s & Guinness Foreign Xtra as well as developing campaigns for the Royal Navy and the Department of Health. He has worked on the launches of Drum and Untold magazines as well as the promo ELLE MAN, prior to becoming a photographer.

Simon Frederick is now based in London.

Portraiture & Fashion PortraitureHe has portraited people as diverse as Amy Winehouse and Spike Lee to Big Phil Scolari to name but a few. His portraiture is able to define an individual in ways that make others care, hold the attention or change your perspective. Simon’s portraiture is not defined by style or technique but an ability to make us feel the mood and presence of the person in the picture

Music & PerformanceWorking with MTV, Major Record labels, Managers & Artists directly has given Simon access to some of the biggest names in music. His pictures of U2 at Avalade Stadium Portugal have been published several times. His Portrait of Lenny Kravitz raised several thousand pounds for Cancer Research in auction. He created a multi camera system to capture the 30th anniversary stadium tour of rock band Xutos. Whether shooting live or making portraits for press & marketing and now directing and shooting music videos. The work is always high in quality and rich in content.

Personal Work & ExhibitionsHis first solo exhibition in 2010 entitled “By Invitation Only” toured the length of portugal for 1 year and was so influential that it was given a 32 page feature in the 25th anniversary edition of the music bible “Blitz”.
