How to register for a Public Training Course

1. Go to www.commvault.com/training

2. Select the Course Offerings and registations link for your

geographical area.

3. Select your course. Review the desired course locations

and scheduled dates and decide on a course that you wish

to attend. Click the “Select” button to the right of the course.

4. Log in to your student profile. If you have not previously

registered for a course, you will be asked to create an

individual student profile with username and password.

If you are a manager registering multiple students for a

class, you will need to create a user profile for each student

that will be attending the class. Make sure a valid e-mail

address is used for each user profile as any communication

concerning this course will use the e-mail address provided.

Note: User profile Information is used only by CommVault’s training department to confirm or communicate information concerning training. It is not shared with any other department or company.

Users who have previously registered can log in with

their username and password. If you have forgotten your

username or password, click on the Forgot username/

password link. The system will automatically e-mail your

login information.

5. Select your method of payment. We accept purchase order,

credit cards (North America) or prepaid training as forms of

payment for instructor-led training. If you have questions or

problems with seleting a payment type contact your local

registrar. Local registrar phone numbers/e-mail addresses

can be found at www.commvault.com/training.

Note: You must enter all of your personal information as well as your billing information, even if you are prepaid.

6. Get confirmation. Once you have registered you will

receive an “In progress” e-mail informing you that your

registration request has been received. If you do not

receive this e-mail, you have not completed your registration.

Once payment has been processed you will receive

a confirmation e-mail. Users paying by credit card will

receive an immediate confirmation e-mail.

7. Show up for Class! You must notify us in writing at least

10 business days in advance of the scheduled class start

time of any modification or cancellation.

Note: All registrations are taken based on a first registered, first served basis and then based on pre-payment of registration fees. All training classes are subject to terms and conditions of our cancellation

How to register for and take a Certification assessment exam

1. Certification can be conducted from any JAVA™ enabled

browser with pop-ups enabled. (CommVault recommends

Microsoft®’s Internet Explorer®, but any JAVA enabled

browser should work). Assessment exams are single

timed sessions so you must complete the entire exam

in the allocated time without closing your browser.

2. The exam link is available on your user profile account

page along with your registered courses. If you are taking

an exam as part of an instructor-led course, the exam link

will not be activated until the start of the course. If you

have registered for an online exam only, then the exam

content is activated once your registration is confirmed.

CommVault Administration Course

Course Description

This 3-Day Instructor-Led course (or self-paced online course) is intended for personnel responsible for day-to-day administration and management of CommVault®Simpana® software. The course covers essential concepts, details, options, and best practices for user security and management, system settings, policy configuration and use, media and library management, job activity and status monitoring, and job management. Students also learn how to efficiently and effectively manage data movement (backup, archive, auxiliary copy, and restore) within a CommCell® group.

CommVault’s new certification program validates expertise and advanced knowledge in CommVault Administration, Implementation, and Support. The certification assessment and recognition is included with the relevant training course at no extra charge. Previous CommVault students who have attended class on or after July 1, 2005 may also be certified for free* through an online assessment.

CommVault® Certification Program — Assessment Exams

Certification exam(s) are available online to students on completion of the course. A 75% comprehension level is required to successfully pass the assessment exam(s). Details on how the online assessment exams are accessed are provided by the instructor during the course.

All students who complete an instructor-led course receive a “Certificate of Completion.” Students successfully completing the assessment exam receive an additional “Certificate of Excellence” and their certification achievement is recorded as part of their student registration profile.

Where can I find the latest training schedule?

You can view our current training schedule and register for training on www.commvault.com/training.

What’s the difference between a Public and Onsite/Private Training course?

Public Training is open to all companies and is conducted on a regular schedule at CommVault’s corporate office and at various locations around the world. Public courses follow the published agenda covering topics that should be of interest for all participants. For companies sending one or two attendees, public training is the best choice. For the latest public training course descriptions, locations, and schedules visit www.commvault.com/training.

Onsite or Private training is for a single customer only, priced per day for at least up to 18 students or a maximum number of students set by the registrar. Private training is an economical choice for companies wanting to train multiple key personnel. Additionally, private training can be customized to address your company’s particular data management requirements. While private training is usually conducted onsite to save the company travel expenses, it can be conducted at an offsite training facility if the company does not have suitable training facilities of their own. Can more than one customer attend Onsite/Private Training?

CommVault policies dictate that the cost of Onsite/Private training cannot be distributed or assigned to more than one company. If more than one company wants to participate in a training course then it must be conducted as a public course with appropriate pricing/distribution of costs to each participant attending. A company cannot purchase a private training course and then resell excess capacity to other users.

Can I take the online Certification assessments without attending a course?

For successful certification and knowledge we highly recommend you attend the associated course. However, course attendance is not required and you may purchase an online assessment opportunity separately. Visit www.commvault.com/certification for more information on our Certification program.

Is Certification related to a specific version of the product?

No, since the skill set being assessed is task orientated—not product orientated, the assessment questions are written in such a manner as to be version independent. Some version dependent wording is unavoidable but an administrator, engineer, or support person skilled in the previous product version should have little or no “version” problem with certification.

Why does Engineering and Support Certification require Administration Certification?

You really can’t plan for, or support, a software product if you don’t know how to operate it. Administration skills are considered the core essentials to understanding the features and functionality of the product. Engineering and Support skills are a level up from Administration and build on this core understanding.
