Jar lid: found on a jar of pop-corn in kitchen. A movable top or cover is for closing the jar.

 Blinds: found in a bathroom. A protective covering that keeps things out or hinders sight

Compound Machines A bike is compound machine. Screws are used to hold the pieces together. The wheel of a bicycle is a wheel and axle. The pedals are also examples of this simple machine. The pedals are attached to a lever that turns a pulley. The gear shifts and brake handles are levers.

An example of a compound machine is the common garden shovel. The handle of the hoe is a lever, while the blade that cuts into the ground is a wedge.
