A square plate 305 x 305 mm x 25mm thk. to be used to represent the footing. 2. Install a ground support or extension as necessary so that easy to take the dial gauge reading. Make sure the support stand firmly so that the plate will sit at the level surface. 3. Set up the hydraulic jack on the plate and the loading will be applied on the top of the jack. Then, set up the dial gauge on the plate by placing it at the glass surface. Make sure the position of the dial gauge can be seen and read easily 4. The load apply by refer to the effective pressure gauge reading. The hydraulic jack pushing against the counter weight until reaching the maximum test load. Unloading should also be done in the backward steps. 5. Record the loads apply and ensure the load is kept constant. Records the settlement by refer the dial gauge reading under each load increment against time.

SIMPLIFIED METHOD OF STATEMENT

PLATE BEARING TEST

A. Plate Bearing Test

1. The test area should be excavating not more than 2 meter depth, but need to know the

site condition or the consultant requirement for the excavation depth. A square plate 305

x 305 mm x 25mm thk. to be used to represent the footing.

2. Install a ground support or extension as necessary so that easy to take the dial gauge

reading. Make sure the support stand firmly so that the plate will sit at the level surface.

3. Set up the hydraulic jack on the plate and the loading will be applied on the top of the

jack. Then, set up the dial gauge on the plate by placing it at the glass surface. Make sure

the position of the dial gauge can be seen and read easily

4. The load apply by refer to the effective pressure gauge reading. The hydraulic jack

pushing against the counter weight until reaching the maximum test load. Unloading

should also be done in the backward steps.

5. Record the loads apply and ensure the load is kept constant. Records the settlement by

refer the dial gauge reading under each load increment against time.
