SimView - Job Aid Controlling the PTZ Cameras

There are two types of IP cameras in the SimView system:

Axis P5534 Pan Tilt and Zoom (PTZ) camera and Axis M3204 Fixed camera

The Pan Tilt and Zoom cameras can be operated from the View & Setup page during Live View and recording.

Note: The PTZ control in SimView only supports IP cameras and does not support analog cameras.

Moving your mouse cursor into the picture frame will add the control buttons as well as the top banner with presets and the link to Axis Operator Mode.

Use the arrows to select which position your camera should be in.

For example: Select the left arrow to move the camera to the left.

The right arrow moves the camera to the right. You can also use the up and down buttons

The “Zoom -“ button zooms out of the picture and the “Zoom +” button zooms in to the picture

When you have selected the camera view you want to use, you can select the “Star” button once to set this as a new fixed position.

You can enter a name for the position, for example “Overview” and you can save up to five different positions. They will be shown at the top banner in the video window when you have the mouse cursor placed inside the window.

Note: The built in controls in SimView are mainly to be used for adjusting the position of the cameras, not for real time control during a session.

The Operator Mode is used for real time control of the Pan, Tilt and Zoom cameras.

Use this option if you need to control video in real time during a session.

Select Operator Mode from the banner inside the video window

This will open the Axis Camera Management software

You can now use your mouse cursor to more exactly position your camera.

Click with your mouse near the cursor in the picture and drag the camera to a new position.

The longer from the center you drag the faster the camera will move.

You can drag in any direction.

When you have positioned your camera you can switch back to SimView and select the “Star” icon to set a new fixed position for your camera. If you need to manually control your camera during a session you can do this from the Axis Camera Management software.

See Checklist “Select camera view” for more information
