What a wonderful, acon-packed week we’ve had here at St. Rose School! The overall excitement was Home- coming! It was great to see many patriots on American day and fun spirit ouits on red and white day! The cheerlead- ers did a super pep rally full of spirit and enthusiasm with skits, prizes, dances and cheers! The 8th graders and parents were recognized and honored at half me with a rose and special message. We are very proud of our Class of 2021! It was heartwarming to have several members of Caleb’s family to share the moment with his class in his memory. Alt- hough the Cardinals were short on the scoreboard they are winners in teamwork, sportsmanship, spirit and pride! Way to go Cardinals! Thank you to everyone who supported our Family Day drive through dinner! What a delicious meal Oakridge catered for us! Some of the best cooks in town! Thank you to faculty, staff and students who worked! Proceeds went to the school. Please connue to support all fundraisers to help make up for loss in the spring and summer. Bishop Cahill will visit next Thursday and celebrate school mass with us. The end of the 9 weeks is next Friday. Teachers and students have worked really hard and I can’t wait to see final results! This weekend is ‘Respect Life Sunday,’ reminding us the preciousness of God’s giſt of life to us and importance of showing respect from the moment of concepon to the last breath we breathe. Being created in God’s likeness and image let’s connue being respecul in our words, acons, and interacons; not only praying but becoming prayer. Let’s pray for good government leaders to provide strong laws and protecon for the unborn and all humanity. Octo- ber is the month of the Holy Rosary and you are invited to say the rosary with us aſter school masses at our Rosary Mary Garden. Going to mass as a family and praying the rosary as a family can be powerful. “Truly, never was it known that anyone who fled to her protecon, implored her help or sought her intercession was leſt unaided.” Sunday is St. Francis of Assisi feast day so today we had the blessing of the animals, with several pets around in all shapes and sizes. Thank you parents and grandparents for bringing these special companions for the children to get blessed. Thank you Father Tim for the blessing, Mrs. Schiffli and the eighth graders for leading the prayer service, and Mr. Bonner for the music. St. Francis was a wealthy young man of privilege, served as a soldier and was a prisoner of war. He heard God’s call and went on to be one of the most venerated Catholic saints. He designed the first Navity set and was the first man ever recorded to receive the Sgmata, the wounds of Christ. (catholic.org) A Prayer for Pets: Dear Saint Francis, you loved all creatures great and small. You praised and blessed the Lord for the animals who shared your life. Joining our prayer to yours, we too thank and praise God for our pets. We give You thanks, God, for our pets. We give You thanks, God, our Creator, for Your wonderful and surprising giſts: for birds and fishes, and all creatures of the sea and sky, for wild animals and tame animals, for cats and dogs and for all our pets. Help us, God, our Creator to take good care of our pets. Thank You for the happiness they give us. Saint Francis of Assisi, pray for us and pray for our pets, too. Amen Tuesday was the feast of the Archangels and today is the feast day of Guardian Angels. Archangels are sent from the hands of God, these powerful messengers bring promises of love and of hope. We pray to St. Michael for pro- tecon from the snares of the devil. Our Guardian Angels help us by: pung good thoughts into our minds and moving our will to what is good, offering our prayers and our good works to God, protecng us in danger, and oſten revealing to us the will of God. The Fayette County Republican Women donated Dictionaries to our 3rd grade class and 5 books to our Library.

Thank you to all who worked and supported our Family Day drive thru meal. And our staff for serv-ing the food. The following students also volun-teered: Jack Vrana, Riley Durfey, Keeley Warnken, Reagan Dusek, Jamison Bennett, Charlie Shank, Ashton Schaefer.

The Warnken & Steinhauser families provided breakfast for our staff on Wednesday.

Adam, Justin and Jacob Schramek donated several books to our Library.

Fayette County donated several PPE items to our classrooms.

After a 19 day layoff the Cardinal volleyball teams hit the court for games in Columbus against St. Anthony on Monday. The C-team lost 25-14 and 25-10. The B-team lost 25-12 and 25-14. The A-team came out victorious in a three set, hard fought, and exhausting match. In the first set the game stayed close until the Cardinals took a 12-8 lead but St. Anthony closed the gap and held on to a 25-23 victory. In the second set St. Rose started strong with a 7-1 lead and never let the Saints back into the game for a 25-16 win. In the third set the Cardinals also started strong with an 8-0 lead and went on for a 25-18 victory. Madison Kunschick had 2 aces, 4 kills, one assist, and 5 digs. Avery Helms had one kill, 15 assists, and one dig. Landry Zapalac had one ace, 10 kills, and 5 assists. Reagan Dusek had 8 kills, 3 digs, and 2 blocks. Clara Magliolo had one ace, one kill, one assist, and one dig. Kenna Oliver had 2 digs and Grace Schramek had one kill. The Cardinals will play an A-team game only on Monday October 5th in Weimar against St. Michael. The match will start at 5:30pm. The game against Trinity that was postponed will be made up on Thursday October 22nd in Victoria at the Trinity gym. All three teams will play with the C-team starting at 5:15. The St. Rose Booster Club will host an A-team vol-leyball tournament on Saturday October 17th with the first match starting at 8:30am. The final draws and playing times will be set later next week. The Cardinals dropped their homecoming football game to Yoakum St. Joseph by the score of 38-12. The Car-dinals will play again on Wednesday October 7th against Trinity of Victoria. The game will be played in Victoria at the Field of Dreams and will start at 5pm.

Football Report

The St. Rose football team suffered its first loss on Wednesday evening to the St. Joseph Tigers from Yoa-kum. The Cardinals gave a good fight, but were simply outplayed by the Tigers. Top performers for the Cardinal offense were: Mason Kunschick, 2 yards rushing; Colson Cahal, 58 yards rushing, a pass reception, a touchdown, and an extra point; Marcus Seger, 5 yards rushing; Tyson Wagner, 104 yards rushing, 2 pass receptions, 1 touch-down; Kellen Mechura, 3 yards rushing. Defensively, Colson Cahal had 4 tackles and 1 pass break-up. Brant Redman had 2 tackles and a caused fumble. Marcus Seger had 3 tackles. Tyson Wagner had 10 tackles. Kellen Mechura had 7 tackles and a pass break-up. Conner Lichnovsky and Cooper Demel each had 4 tackles. Next week the Cardinals will travel to Victoria to take on the Trinity Patriots. - Coach Travis Wagner
