READY TO ROLLICING

VERSATILE To add extra interest to your cakes you can emboss, model or mould with our icing. It will set quite firmly whilst retaining a soft texture under the top skin. And it’s so easy to use, straight from the pack.

SIMPLY KNEAD Knead the Ready to Roll Icing first to ensure it is warm and

pliable. This will wake up the gums and make it easy to use. Sprinkle the work surface with a little icing sugar to stop it sticking (we don’t recommend corn flour).

ROLL Roll out your icing keeping an even pressure.

Lift and rotate the icing as you roll; adding a little more icing sugar to the surface or rolling pin if necessary to prevent sticking.

APPLY For a marzipanned cake - lightly brush the marzipan with either a clear alcohol or cooled boiled water, just enough to make the surface sticky. For a sponge cake, thinly coat with buttercream prior to icing. Gently lift the icing over your rolling pin or pick it up with both hands and position it on the cake.

It will help give you some amazing results where both fine detail and structure are required.

• Keep any unused paste covered. Ensure any cut-outs are protected with plastic film to prevent drying out.

• For best results, allow at least 12 hours drying time before dusting with lustres or powder colours and 24 hours if assembling decorations

GET MODELLING!For beginners some projects may appear daunting, but try just one or two aspects to get you started.

Try making the little trees shown in this park scene. All the leaves on these trees have been crafted using new Leaf-Green Flower & Modelling paste. Make the leaves ahead of time using wires for ease of assembly.

The body of the tree can be made using Renshaw Chocolate Brown Ready to Roll icing mixed 50:50 with Flower & Modelling paste. This technique gives a firmer set and really helps when crafting taller models such as figures.

LETS MAKEThe pretty bunting on the hot air ballon basket is easy to make and is so effective. Bunting can be used to decorate the sides of cakes and is a great way of adding interest. Try painting the bunting shapes with different letters to spell out names, or paint as pretty flags as we have done.

You will need

• Coloured Flower and Modelling paste (colours of your choice )

• Triangular cutters or small sharp knife

• Cooled boiled water.

Roll out paste thinly and cut out the bunting shapes either with your cutter or with a small sharp knife. Leave the shapes to dry for 24hrs then they will be easy to handle. Attach to your cake using a little Royal icing.
