FINISHINGAND WALKING SURFACE

Our gangways are supplied with a beautiful carbon fibre finishing, which lets you see the perfection of the structure. This is only possible with 100% carbon fibre construction.

Our epoxy is protected against UV, as proved by hundreds of gangways and wheels sold with a carbon clearcoat. Many of those are now more than 10 years old and still with a perfect structure.

The walking surface is light-grey antiskid paint, not adhesive tape. We use the most durable antiskid paint in the world, commonly used on professional fishing vessels and in other maritime working environments.

You can customize the gangway and the walking surface with any colours or logos you like, without any adverse effects on durability. It’s also possible to customize the gangway with teak walking surface.

CLEARCOAT

We also apply a top quality, PPG ® anti-UV clearcoat, for higher gloss. Our finishings, both with and without clearcoat, have been tested to 4 times the normal Salt Spray Test/Sunlight Radiation duration, with no discolouring.

HOW TO USE IT / COMFORT

Our Delrin© Support Bar is safe and doesn’t require any hole onto the yacht’s deck.If you want more stability, with our male/female system, you just need to insert our aluminum Swinging Deck Fitting Pivot into one of our premium Deck Sockets (check our whole range on Exit Carbon Accessories catalogue).Each gangway is supplied with pad eyes for the trapeze and guys, and wheels on the dock side.You can install one of our handrails kits on one or both sides.

MAINTENANCE/ CARE

Your gangway lasts forever. To maintain the beautiful finishing you just need to rinse it with fresh water.

To protect your gangway in style (and also your yacht from our strong products, thank you Graham for pointing that out!), you can buy a black/silver Exit Carbon padded stow bag, made unique with your logo.

REFIT

CARLASpecial gangways system for special mobility needs

Carla is Exit Carbon’s Special Gangways System, conceived for people using wheeled vehicles to cross from dock to deck, or for cruising ships, with a higher flow of passengers than the usual yacht.

The system is modular, to be adaptable to different lengths, from 3 to over 6 meters.The gangways are wide enough for even the largest scooter, with 76 cm of usable space.

The gangways are provided with restraining steps, and can be equipped with handrail kits on one or both sides.To allow an easy use with wheels, besides the usual sliders, we introduced a Rollers System, covering the

whole width of the gangway.Exit Carbon 30 mm Rollers are low enough to be no obstacle for your wheels.

Of course the Rollers System is also used on the boat end, where we have a special Super Low Height swinging pivot for these gangways, here shown with our Key-Locked Deck Socket.

PADDED STOW BAGProvide the best protection for your gangway with the exclusive, black/silver Exit Carbon padded stow bag. Our bags have resistant and comfortable handles, shoulder belt and a practical zip, and can be made unique with your logo/yacht’s name. For Alba 220 cm solid gangway, the bag is waterproof and conceived to be fitted to your boat’s rails.

YACHT’S NAMEYou can customize your gangway with your logo, yacht’s name or drawing. Our best selling option is showing the name/logo as carbon fibre left visible within the antiskid paint, giving a unique textured effect. This “inlay carbon” effect comes naturally to us, since we really use carbon fibre for our construction. Your name/logo can also be painted in any colour, even metallic or different from the main colour of the gangway, thus creating an eye catching effect. Send us your vectorial file .ai, .dxf or just the font type and we will realize the exact same graphics visible on your yacht’s stern. You can check all this on a virtual mock-up of your dream gangway provided by our graphics department.

TEAK WALKING SURFACEOur teak walking surface is made by a water-jet cutting machine, following smoothly the gangway rounded design.We use high quality sheets of teak limited to 2.5 mm thickness in order to limit the weight gain of your gangway.

YACHT’S NAME ON TEAK SURFACEYour yacht’s name, logo or any drawing can be beautifully inlaid in the Teak Walking Surface. With the same method we use for the paintedname/logo, we can make the same graphics visible on your yacht’s stern with dark Wenge or light Maple real wood, to contrast the Teak planks. Of course, we will provide a virtual mock-up for you to check, before manufacturing.

LIGHT CASCADEWe supply an exclusive waterproof LED lights system with all electric cables hidden under the gangway structure. Thanks to the extra-thin walls of Exit Carbon pre-preg gangways we can mount the lamps underneath the surface, that way showing the lights on top through small holes on each side of the walking area. This unique feature of Exit Carbon gangways, illuminates the water and dock with an awesome visual effect, as shown on the side photo.

The lamps are CE certified. Low consumption 4.8 W to 19.2 W according to gangway model and Volts supply (self adjusting to 12 V or 24 V).

HANDRAILSYou can choose one or two sides handrail kits including stanchions and line. You can choose your own colour for rope and stanchions. If you prefer, on the second side you can install only the stanchions supports, without handrails.We supply stanchions in different materials: carbon fibre, hard anodised aluminum and stainless steel.Our handrails are easy to fix and remove. The handrails kit can be added to the gangway in any time.

Y OR I? TWO SOLUTIONS FOR ONE PROBLEM: to transfer a pull from the rim to the spokes to discharge it onto the axleIt is a simple problem with many solutions. If you pull on the rim at the end of a spoke, the load on the spoke is exclusively bending, but if you pull between two spokes, the bending decreases with the number of spokes and, as shown in figures D to A, it mainly becomes torsion. If we want to use only a few spokes, they must be designed to resist both types of load, thus they must have a very wide connection to the rim. Just think of what happens if you try to unscrew a screw with a screwdriver that is too small. As we can see the Y construction behaves like metal wheels with a lot of spokes.There are many reasons why Exit Carbon have adopted the current 3-spoke construction and in our opinion it is fully justified, despite the greater structural complexity, which involves additional design work.If you use fewer spokes, each of them can be wider. It’s easier to lay-up a large diameter spoke, so the process is more controllable, meaning that the quality and reliability of the wheels is uniform. In a carbon fibre wheel, the overlaps account for a significant part of the overall weight.Any bifurcation in the spokes needs additional plies, thus increasing the number of overlaps between plies. Therefore, avoiding forks, saves weight. Our patented Continuous Shell Construction Method requires internal vacuum bags for creating a monocoque wheel. Straight spokes allow for much easier vac bags than forked spokes. On the other hand, if you make the wheel by glueing separate parts, you don’t care about the complexity of internal vacuum bags, which you don’t use at all. The wide connections to the rim reduce tension peaks, meaning that minimum thickness can be used away from the hub, to the benefit of low rotational inertia. Therefore we consider that the construction with a few straight spokes is far superior to any Y fork architecture, however you really have to be carefully designing the rim-to-spokes and hub-to-spokes connections.A good design should have wide connections to both. The alternatives are excessive weight and/or potentially weak interface.

The trapeze is the perfect solution to always have your gangways available, when you need it, without the noise of the wheels scratching on the dock or worries for the gangway hitting the dock.Most trapezes are made with short spreader bars, resulting in un uncomfortably narrow passage, when you walk through, so we made our Carbon Spreader Bars 610 mm long, wider than most shoulders, but still extralight.
