ORIGIN The word ‘Singapore’ signifies ‘Lion City’. It is a Southeast Asian city-state off the
southern tip of the Malay Peninsula. In 1324, a prince of ‘srivijian’ province called
‘Sang Nila Utama’ found Singapore. He landed in this land to avoid a heavy storm
while he was returning back to his province through sea after a trade.
The first thing he saw was a gigantic fierce ‘Lion’in that green city.
So, he named the city as “Singapura”.
HISTORY An island country made
up of 63 islands. It was discovered by Sir
Stamford Raffles in the year 1819.
It got its independence in the year 1965, Aug 9th.
It started its journey as a small kampong.(village of fishermen).
GROWTH OF SINGAPORE
Lee Kuan Yew, the father of Singapore is the only man who has transformed the village into the most powerful emerging country in the world.
He stated his party named as PAP(people’s action party) and became the first prime minister of Singapore in 1965.
