DAY 1 SUN 22 JULSYDNEY TO SINGAPORELinda Ross will meet you at Sydney International Airport for the Qantas flight, or meet in Singapore. Check into the Parkroyal on Pickering with its world class sky-gardens (picture top right), our luxurious home for the next five nights. Celebrate our arrival in the tropics with a Welcome Dinner in the hotel.

DAY 2 MON 23 JULSINGAPORE BOTANIC GARDEN We’re off to the recently UNESCO listed Singapore Botanic Gardens. The tropical rainforest here is one of the few pockets of original jungle left on the island. There are some 300 plant species in this little pocket forest and plenty of birds, including oriental pied hornbills, spotted wood owls, crimson sunbirds and stork-billed kingfishers.

Singapore is famous for orchids, and the National Orchid Garden is situated on the highest hill in the Botanic Gardens. Orchids have been a part of the Gardens collection since its beginnings in 1859. Early directors commissioned extensive orchid collecting expeditions and since 1995 the

collection has its own beautifully landscaped home – the National Orchid Garden.

Lunch included today at one of the loveliest restaurants, surrounded by the orchid and heliconia gardens.

Afternoon at leisure until it cools a little, when we’ll jump onto a bumboat for a cruise along the Singapore River. These hardy vessels were once used to shuttle cargo in one of the East’s busiest trade centres.

DAY 3 TUE 24 JULSINGAPORE GARDEN FESTIVAL Spend this morning at the Singapore Garden Festival which showcases exciting garden designers with displays of tropical flowers and garden designs from all over the world. Free afternoon to relax poolside.

DAY 4 WED 25 JULSPICE GARDEN A treat this morning in the Spice Garden, once the site of Singapore’s first Botanical and Experimental Garden set up by Sir Stamford Raffles in 1822! The National Museum of Singapore is next, which pays homage to Singapore’s history and its food.

The neoclassical 19th century building was once Raffles’ museum and library. We’ll have lunch here then visit Kampong Glam in Little India and Singapore’s largest mosque with its golden dome, built in 1825 then replaced one hundred years later by the present magnificent building. Stay on for shopping here with an electric mix of boutiques and cafes, or head back to our hotel to relax.

DAY 5 THU 26 JULGARDENS BY THE BAY Today’s highlight is the stunning Gardens by the Bay. You’ll be amazed by the vision of this extraordinary project! It brings to life the government’s ambition to make Singapore a ‘City in a Garden’. Two enormous conservatories: the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest, and a grove of ‘Supertrees’ dominate the site.

We’ll explore the horticultural worlds growing in the bio domes, which are engineering feats themselves, being the biggest column-less glasshouses in the world. It’s eternally spring in the Flower Dome, with plant displays from dry climates found in South Africa, California, southern Spain, Italy, and south-western Australia.

After lunch (own arrangements), we will enjoy the cool rush of a waterfall within the Cloud Forest. Discover tropical flowers such as vireya, begonia and medinilla.

Free time this afternoon before we head back to the Gardens by the Bay for an illuminated view from the Skyway, a walkway that connects two 250m tall Supertrees. Farewell Dinner tonight in the tallest Supertree - a tree with a view!

DAY 6 FRI 27 JULSINGAPORE

We’ve included a late check-out today. A morning walk across the architectural masterpiece of Henderson Wave Bridge along the Southern Ridges Walk to Hort Park today. Visit a range of garden spaces each with its own theme. Late afternoon transfer to Changi Airport.

DAY 7 SAT 28 JULARRIVE HOMEMorning arrival home.
