What can you expect to get from my Single Online Dating Quick Start Guide? Here’s
an excerpt from one of the chapters:
Online dating sites come in two versions, paid and free and deciding on the exact one can be
a taxing decision. There choices are plentiful, nevertheless making a choice is not as smooth
as it looks. Let's look a little more in depth at them. Both alternatives have their benefits, so
we'll examine the two of them.
Free Single Dating Sites
Pros:
This is a on sale way to get get acquainted with the entire process. You can get in there and
see how others have put together their profiles.
Free almost always works for me. The only cost to you is the amount of time it will take you.
Some dating site users have set up two or three different profiles just to see if they can
somehow test which will work out best for them. This gives people some time to fine tune
their profiles before they make the step up to a paid service.
Downside:
Free public sites are full of a bunch of junk. The profiles aren't actually created by a human;
instead they are computer generated profiles which direct you to sites that are geared to
selling you some other product.
Younger children or curious adults may post profiles here with no intention of finding
someone else; their goal is simple to play around and see what they can get into.
You are often limited in how you can contact other singles using a free site.
Free sites have ads spread across every square inch of space on the page. Free sites rarely
offer a matchmaking option; their focus is for you to support the advertising links splatter all
over their page.
Customer service? Yeah, good luck with that one.
Paid Online Dating Sites
Advantages:
History has shown that paid dating services do the best job of matching interested singles
with one another. By providing questionnaires that are catered towards matching singles with
similar interests, paid sites tend to give you the best results.
Charging a monthly membership fee will weed out the genuine singles form the one's who
are just fooling around. Paid sites just do not have the crappy profiles you find on free
internet dating sites. You can bet that because these people have paid to be on a site that
they are interested in finding other matches.
These profiles are generally of a higher quality.
The ways to get in touch with other singles are boundless. From live chat, email, to online
video chat, paid services offer a wide gamut of options with communicating with the opposite
sex.
Pitfalls:
You have to dip into your wallet and pay a monthly fee. At a cost of $20-30 per month, this
can often be an expense that many people don't feel the need to pay for.
I do not think you can join one of these sites if you do not own a credit card. This is hard for
me to fathom, but there are many people out ther that just do not feel comfortable putting
their credit card information online.
My Verdict?:
To put this decision into perspective, here's a real life scenario that we've all been faced with.
Part of the nerves of going on a first date with someone is that you are not sure if you have
anything in common with them. What is the safest first date tactic--a trip to the movies. Not
wanting to be cheap, you offer to pay. With the ridiculous price of movie tickets today, that
should cost you a little over $20. You need to grab at least some popcorn and a soda before
you get to your seat. It is stealing what the theatres charge for those snacks, and it is in the
neighborhood of $20 once you are done.
Your wallet has taken a $30+ beating and you are not sure where you stand with this
companion. You still have the first date jitters about how the date will go following the movie.
You've just spent close to two hours with that person, and you still haven't learned much
about each other because you were focused on the movie.
A huge benefit to using an online dating site is you get to learn quite a bit about someone
before actually meeting them in person. You find about before dating them whether or not
you share common interests.
Although free sites may get this done for you, paid sites have a much better track record
when it comes to matching singles. If you're going to spend $30, which method works better,
the paid dating site or the trip to the movies?
