Switzerland is primarily a service economy: 72% of the workforce are employed in the tertiary sector (services), 24% in the secondary sector (industry) and 4% in the primary sector (farming).

The main service sector industries are insurance, banking, trade and commerce, and tourism.

The secondary sector is dominated by the machinery, electronics, metals and chemical/pharmaceutical industries.

More than 99% of all registered companies in Switzerland are SMEs, and employ two-thirds of the total workforce.

The Swiss economy is strongly geared towards exports – approximately half of Switzerland’s GDP is generated from the export of goods and services.

SIPPO Contact PlatformSIPPO is acting as a contact mediator for Swiss- / EU importers and producers from developing countries and countries in transition. SIPPO is offering to EU importers a service in form of a sourcing-platform with a large pool of producers from Albania, Macedonia, Serbia, Indonesia and Vietnam. SIPPO already introduced the contact platform to the Swiss and EU importers at the GLOBAL FASHION in 2005 and since 2006 at the CPD fair for garments in Dusseldorf twice a year. A team of 3 consultants as well as the project management support producers to establish long term business relations. On demand, SIPPO connect selected producers to interested EU-importers and provides brochures about the textile- and clothing industry from the promoted countries and hand out detailed information from all selected companies.
