Site Specific Consider risks to all site users

The use of subcontractors MUST be accounted for and the necessary safe systems followed.

the school has identified suitable controls, namely cordoned off working areas to protect public and staff, working at height safely, removal and disposal of glass and frames with care, any hot work permit acquired and checked for fire risk.

Upon Arrival

ID check and welcome Handover of school rules Local tour of work area identifying:

WCs Break Areas No go areas Noise, disruption and behaviour requirements No Smoking and other important concerns

Also consider Has the contractor considered the environment –

disposal of goods (skip in car park only, storage of windows and other items etc.

The segregation of the work area. Where will tools be stored overnight Consider vehicle and access requirements All vehicle access to Junior playground to be checked

for fuel leakage – no vehicles with leaks allowed on playground

Will lone working or other high risk work be carried out at any time?

During Work… Regular monitoring of the site to check on

progress and safety for the contractor’s and users’ safety.

Supervision Refreshments etc should be allowed as

necessary but access to kitchen supervised Work progress monitored The school has the right to stop work and

remove the contractor from site.

People should only use a ladder or a stepladder if:-

They are competent – trained and instructed to use the equipment safely.

The ladder/stepladder is long enough – Ladders – don’t use the top 3 rungsStepladders – don’t use the top 2 steps, unless suitable

Site checks to ensure area is clean and safe (check for glass)

All tools etc removed and securely stored.

If work is ongoing is the area and the work to date secure and safe?

Should a fire check be made? Signing out as necessary.
