The Illinois Food Retailers Association Education Foundation is pleased to announce its 2013-14 scholarship winners. This year the Foundation received 293 applications from 55 companies.

Ninety-two students will receive one-year scholarship awards to be applied toward their educational expenses for the 2013-14 academic school year at any accredited, non- profit college or university in the United States.

The scholarships funded by the Foundation are one-year awards in the amounts of $1,000.00 and $500.00. Using funds raised from the IFRA grand raffle ticket sales and various golf outings throughout the summer months, the Foundation awarded $11,000.00 in scholarships to employees or children of employees from Illinois Food Retailers Association member companies. Additionally ten member companies participated in the Piggyback Program in order to provide a scholarship program specifically for their employees and employees’ dependents utilizing the Education Foundation application process. A total of $70,000.00 in scholarships were distributed through the Piggyback program.

To assure complete impartiality in the selection of winners, and to maintain a high level of professionalism in dealing with students, parents, high schools, and colleges, the IFRA Scholarship selection process is performed by Sands & Associates.

Thank you to all the loyal supporters who participated in our fundraising efforts this past year and to the member companies who sponsored their own awards through a procedure known as “Piggybacking.” Your support and participation made our fourteenth year a resounding success.

Special thanks to all the students who applied and our heartiest congratulations and best wishes to the students who are receiving scholarships for the 2013-2014 school year.
