West Penn News Speaker Information Tracy AlimTracy Alim has more than 25 years of manufacturing experience in the automotive,light metals, glass, chemical and electronics industries. He has held progressive po-sitions in manufacturing management, maintenance management and engineeringmanagement in Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Alims expertise is in manufacturing op-erations and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). His methods include leanmanufacturing and Six Sigma, with emphasis on kaizen events, team developmentand manufacturing metrics. As vice president of consulting for medium enterprises,he leads a team of consultants who provide business growth, continuous improve-ment, information technology, productivity improvement and quality improvementservices to manufacturers with 150 employees or more. Mr. Alim holds both M.S.and B.S. degrees in mechanical engineering from Tuskegee University, and he is acertified six sigma black and a certified lean sigma black belt.Mark SewellMark Sewell has more than 25 years experience as an engineer, manager and con-sultant in the areas of operations management, manufacturing engineering and qual-ity assurance. His experience has focused on the applications of lean manufacturingand continuous improvement methods in the semiconductor, electronics, medicaland automotive industries. Prior to joining Catalyst Connection, Mr. Sewell held posi-tions as operations manager and director of quality and manufacturing engineering,and also provided consulting services through a private practice. Since joining Cata-lyst Connection in 2003, Mr. Sewell has assisted dozens of local manufacturers inreducing lead times, increasing capacity and eliminating waste from both productionand administrative processes. He moved from his original position of lean manufac-turing consultant to managing director of productivity improvement services in2004. Named to the position of vice president of consulting for growth enterprises in2007, he now leads a team of consultants and business development professionalswho provide specialized assistance to manufacturers with fewer than 150 employ-ees. Mr. Sewell holds a B.S. in industrial engineering from the Pennsylvania StateUniversity and an M.A. in applied statistics from the University of Pittsburgh.
