What is a SIX-STROKE engine???

• The SIX-STROKE engine is a type of an internal combustion engine based on four stroke engine,but with additional features intended to make it more efficient by reducing emissions

• There are two power strokes ,one with fuel and the other with steam or air

The Different approaches used in SIX-STROKE engines

FIRST APPROACH

Two additional strokes using the same main piston

SECOND APPROACH

It uses a second opposed piston which moves at half the cyclical rate of the main piston

Working• In a SIX-Stroke Engine when the temperature reaches approximately 400 F, just before the fifth Stroke fresh water is injected directly into the hot combustion chamber through the engines fuel injector pump.•This injected water is quickly turned into super heated steam, this causes the water to expand to 1600 times of it’s volume and so it forces the piston downwards and creates an additional power stroke.

Working of a SIX-STROKE engine

ADVANTAGES•Simpler and less expensive manufacturing and tooling•There’s almost 40% reduction in fuel consumption •Extracts work from heat that is ordinarily lost through the cooling system of a conventional engine •Reduces Exhaust emissions•Steam strokes cools the engine internally hence much higher compression ratios can be achieved

Limitations and obstacles •Injecting relatively cold water onto a hot metal piston can damage it over time, from thermal expansions and contractions •A separate water tank with sufficient water should be installed•Anti-freezing measures should be done in the water reservoir

Conclusion • It’s been time for us to think of something beyond the conventional engines that pollute Nature. The six-stroke engine fits perfectly into this view. It’s adoption by the automobile industry would have a tremendous impact on the environment and world economy, assuming up to 40% reduction in fuel consumption and 60% to 90% in polluting emissions, depending on the type of the fuel being used.
