Michelle,
Thank you for the opportunity to observe your Language Arts classroom today, Nov. 14, 2013. You did
very creditable work. Your lessons are well planned and delivered.
Today, I observed you continue to enhance student learning by:
*Your comprehensive lesson plan and the creative writing projects related to Romeo and Juliet that your
students worked on *Your continued myriad approaches to encouraging, supporting, and "pushing" students to achieve *Your timely, effective use of instructional time in your startup and in making transitions throughout the
lesson *Your understanding and appreciation of the need for an individualized approach and willingness to redirect
student work from time to time *Your students’ engagement and involvement with your instruction (you continue to use the advantage
of small numbers of students and one-on-one instruction to an excellent advantage *Your very effective infusion of high order thinking into your lessons
*Your very strong rapport with students *The positive, productive, supportive climate of your classroom evidencing empathetic, mutual respect *Your passion for your work caring for the high-needs individuals you serve *Your being energized by your rapport with students *Your solid teacher presence and consistent energy level (you demonstrate a growing self-confidence) *Your consistent interpersonal skills (solid and very intentional eye contact; understandable, audible voice;
positive affect that includes frequent, natural smiles) *Your continued ability to combine easy, natural rapport with the students and concurrently to keep
expectations high (you continue to be observant of students' prior self revelations and continue to be
intuitive in response to student needs and thinking) *Your consistent, natural circulation through the classroom, including one-on-one discussions with
individual students (you very effectively use proximity; your circulation and proximity are excellent) *Your high expectations of students' behavior as well as your very effective classroom management
*Your repartee with individual students and the entire class in spontaneously responding to questions fromyou to them and from them to you (the small class was a definite advantage with this) *The many visual prompts that line the walls and display areas of your classroom
You are very fortunate to have the very strong mentor you do in Ms. Matthews. She continues to be very positive about your work as a student teacher. She appreciates your growth and positive responses to herfeedback.
Given the unique setting you are placed in, I continue to consider you in the top fifteen percent of studentteachers in an alternative high school setting.
Keep up the great work, Michelle!
